@WhyNotZoidberg 🤣🤦 nothing about it is fascist. This only benefits the Fediverse and hurts Meta. Would you like to answer the question or just hurl insults at people who disagree with you?
@WhyNotZoidberg I am not telling anyone what to do. The original poster I replied to is. I just asked a question. If you don't have an answer to the question, feel free not to reply to me.
Nobody is advocating for supporting Meta. Quite the opposite, really.
> We landed on “你識路啦” which translates to “You know how to get there so…” a wink and a nudge about where to go to find your friends. The two middle characters phonetically sound out “Signal,” another layer of wink and nudge. If you know you know.
We shouldn't be mentioning this without even mentioning that Meta is STILL going to be collecting all of your metadata and selling to advertisers and handing over to governments.
Thinking I want to build my first personal home server. I have a #Synology#NAS DS220j but I'm thinking it's probably not adequate for Plex transcoding, among other tasks. I have a spare #Ryzen 2700x and 16GB DDR4, and also a 2060 Super (does a server benefit from a GPU?). Looking for any advice #fosstodon would be willing to share regarding hardware and software solutions.
@feditips@fediverse Is there a Fedi version of something like Facebook Groups? Social circles for a specific topic? Calckey looks like it has something similar but they are currently not federated and also I've found the platform in general to be very unstable.
So I guess #Meta#threads federation is DOA, eh? I suspect it's one of those things that they kept in their back pocket to roll out if they ended up being "too" successful? To combat anti-trust, monopolistic legislation. But instead the opposite has happened and Threads is failing miserably. Sounds like they just rushed a half-baked product out the door to capitalize on Musk's BS.
Is there an @AntennaPod kind of app for iOS? I love how they engage with Blind users. I tried the app on a friends phone and that app is just perfection from a screen reader POV! I know there is @castropodcasts but I hear they haven't put out accessibility updates, and, I honestly don't think Downcast and similar cut the mustard on iOS. #Podcast#Podcasts
Many developers, especially FOSS ones, can't be bothered to pay for all the Apple developer fees when they can simply upload their APK to their website or FDroid or GitHub for free, and it doesn't need to be approved by a third party.
@weirdwriter What I want from the fedi, more than anything, is to be able to use it with my IRL friends and family, meaning it needs to have wide appeal, and most people want some sort of algorithmic sorting, so I suppose it was only a matter of time before we got it.
@AntennaPod How do I get the app to show the name of the podcast in my "Episodes" queue. I'm getting a bunch of episodes in there and I have no idea who is publishing them.
I'm officially done with #linux . @protonvpn quit working. I have no idea how to fix it. Tried to uninstall it from the software pane but it just...doesn't. It acts like it's uninstalled, but its not. The killswitch, however, is still on, with no way to disable it. I can no longer access internet from @fedora. All support documentation sends me into the terminal. The commands return a generic error. I don't have time for this. Not looking for support, just giving feedback.
We built the world's first 180W USB-C power adapter without realizing it. We just thought the new EPR standard was an obvious win, so we designed an adapter around it for Framework Laptop 16. We now have the adapter in stock in the Marketplace: https://frame.work/products/16-power-adapter?v=FRANCR000B
@frameworkcomputer this is great but I'm super disappointed there's not more than one connector. I can buy a 65w brick that has 2 or 3 USB outs. Makes no sense to have all that power and it can only be delivered to a single device. This is unfortunately a dealbreaker, and against the ethos that Framework otherwise exemplifies.
A LOT of Apple Folk are telling on themselves over this Beeper Mini situation. It was never about functionality, communication, or security. Those folks just liked having a club they could exclude people from. It's not a great look.
The Green Bubble has always been about bullying and exclusion to benefit Apple's bottom line.
@SomeGadgetGuy I don't think it's any of that. I mean certainly some but not most. I think people (users) just can't be bothered to use anything other than what comes pre-installed on their devices.
For Apple it is certainly about control and their ever-present walled garden.
