I think, though, that helping people understand the First Amendment issues at stake in the gag orders is less important than helping people understand that the real danger to democracy is misinformation and disinformation, and these things cannot be fixed through the legal system.

What I learned from @Teri_Kanefield

Immunity is not a plea deal.

Meadows repeatedly pleads the 5th to questions.

Prosecutor give immunity for information on others so he can no longer plead the 5th.

Prosecutor asks questions not related to Meadows charges and guarantees no prosecution based on this new information on others.

This does not get Meadows off the hook for his charges.

Prosecutor's case against Meadows is not tainted by his immunity testimony.

Did I get this right?

Former Donald #Trump attorney #SidneyPowell has pleaded #guilty in the #Georgia election subversion case, one day before her trial was set to start.

Prosecutors are recommending a sentence of six years probation. Powell will also be required to testify at future trials and write an apology letter to the citizens of Georgia.

Give me your suggestions for a good spooky movie! I'm not a big fan of torture porn or excessive gore (unless it's so over the top it's silly), but otherwise I like mysteries, thrillers, haunting, monsters, B movies, aliens, black and whites, anything really.

Do you ever think about abandoned tech trees? Like how no one is working to design better drafting compasses or vellum? No one is perfecting vacuum tubes. No one is laser focused on methods to speed paint and accurate portrait by hand to send out for marriage proposals.

Technological leaps make entire areas of research pointless— but

What if just a bit further down the line on the old tech tree there was some bigger breakthrough we’ll never see? I think about this A LOT.

If you're mad at EFF for making it possible to use Chrome with less tracking instead of yelling at people to use a different browser, then I assume you have never heard of harm reduction. Giving people digital privacy and security advice means meeting people where they're at. Otherwise, you're just running your mouth to make yourself feel smart.

There's a real split between two Mastodons:

Hermit Mastodon: just wants a safe, healthy space for themselves.

Shift Mastodon: wants everyone in the world to join the fediverse and for this to become the new social networking paradigm for all.

Both are valid.
