Somewhat closely?

Who should I be following?

I have questions about the quality of research identifying temperature at which the virus is guaranteed to be killed.

Other questions too. Always with the questions.

CNN approached his parents, "who expressed support for him & revealed that he will soon leave for Israel to join the Israeli occupation forces"

Somebody asked me earlier this year “How I would know when fascism arrives”

And I said “death squads”

Well, here we are

Fascism doesn’t suddenly “exist” or not

And there have been reports of extrajudicial executions of BLM activists and maybe others

Not to mention killings by on-duty forces

But when “gangs of killers” silence political activity with impunity, that’s a tipping point

Israeli historian Ilan Pappe was targeted by US CBP this week. They took his phone & asked him questions like did he believe Israel was committing genocide against Palestinians, &if he had any Palestinian friends.

My first reaction was that CBP doesn't know the first thing about Israeli historians, & likely Israel's govt told the US to target him. Turns out Pappe believes Israel's govt was involved.

It would be a good time to read his work.

The US shouldn't be using our vast border patrol - which Trump converted into his political instrument, a burgeoning SS, during his regime - to arrest Jewish historians for thought crimes.

All at the bidding of a right-wing authoritarian like Netanyahu.

Do you really want to live like this in the US? Everything must be done to halt this. The Biden Administration has not condemned the police attacks on peaceful protesters.

Among Kahane’s other visions were an ethnically-segregated education system [&] dismantling…democracy, calling for a state based on Jewish religious law…Israel outlawed Kach as a terror organization in 1994 (the U.S. followed a year later) [but] the core members of Jewish Power—Baruch Marzel, Itamar Ben-Gvir, Michael Ben-Ari, & Benzi Gopstein—are all disciples of Kahane…they have variously persecuted Palestinians, leftists, African asylum seekers, & the LGBTQ community"
https://www.972mag.com/as-kahanists-return-israels-fascist-sideshow-takes-center-stage/

Rabbi Meir Kahane, who founded the Jewish Defense League and for whom the Kahanists are named, was a fascist. He wanted to remake Israeli society by expelling Palestinians and making Jewish law the law of the land. He believed in Jewish supremacy, was fixated on ethnic purity, and declared antisemitism in the diaspora necessary in order to prevent assimilation. Violence and militarism were, for Kahane, instruments through which to ensure national rebirth. The JDL manifestos Kahane wrote in the 1960s and '70s in New York contained seeds of this fascist ideology. The policy platform his party, Kach, ran on in the 1984 Israeli elections, and which got him elected, was explicitly fascist. It's important to state this unequivocally. Referring to 'Kahanism’ without naming its ideological pedigree makes it impossible to have an honest discussion about this latest evolution in Israeli politics. From fringe to mainstream Kahane undoubtedly shifted the parameters of Israeli discourse during his turbulent parliamentary career. Among Kach'’s principles and policies were those calling for mass expulsions of Palestinians; the annexation of the West Bank, Gaza, the Golan Heights, and the Sinai; and a ban on marriage, and all sexual contact, between Jews and non-Jews — punishable by prison sentences ranging from five to 50 years. Kahane undoubtedly shifted the parameters of Israeli discourse during his turbulent parliamentary career. This last point was a particular obsession for Kahane: his political rallies in Israel regularly featured histrionic, concocted tales of scores of Jewish girls kidnapped and taken to Palestinian villages; and during a Kach election broadcast in the 1980s (delivered, curiously enough, in English), he warned of “the destruction of Israel not through bullets but through Arab babies.” His party’s security principles, meanwhile, continued the theme of righteous Jewish violence that informed his writings for the JDL — violence that he invested with both a biblical lineage (Bar Kokhba, Judah Maccabee) and a redemptive potential (an end to Jewish oppression). His Second Amendment-style JDL slogan, “Every Jew a .22," made aliyah in the form of a call to give the Israel Defense Forces a “free hand” when dealing with Arabs — in other words, a shoot-to-kill policy with no questions asked.

Immediately in the wake of Biden's call to , raising the scary specter of the US actually complying with its own aid conditions meant to avoid arming war criminals, as many have begged for months, Israel announces it will open the Erez crossing for 1st time in 6 mos.

I predict it'll help some, but won't shift in Netanyahu's genocidal aims or plans to starve . His govt will still do everything it's doing at other points, to thwart entry of food, water, & medicine to .

chargrille,
@chargrille@progressives.social avatar

So the question is, what will it take to rein in Netanyahu's that is being carried out by the IDF?

Because this phone call isn't going to be enough. The genocide has been underway for months. Genocide's soldiers, primed with Bibi's speech & sent into the ground invasion, will not turn on a dime.

US citizens still want a , an end to war crimes, an end to starvation. The US will need to stop sending them weapons. So call your reps & tell them that.

As I recall from studying psychology, rewarding a behavior makes it more likely to reoccur. So whatever words come out of our President's mouth, if Israel under Netanyahu has killed 13,000 Palestinian children, and Pres. Biden still wants to give Israel 18 billion in aid, that works out to rewarding Israel 1,384,615 dollars for each child they've killed. That seems less of a way to dissuade Israel from murdering more innocent children, but rather a recipe for genocide.

There is none of that here. None of it.

He knew the ER doctor was Palestinian American and had just been serving in a hospital in Khan Yunis & must have seen absolute horrors. He didn't ask if he'd lost anyone.

The reception sounds cold AF.

I think you can compare it yourself to other receptions Biden has given to other Americans - or even his embrace in the Oval Office of an Italian fascist.]

How much good are you willing to destroy, to satisfy the Amalek genocide revenge fantasies of the Israeli right-wing @potus?

You are treating these aid workers like their lives mean nothing. After you've spent 6 months treating Palestinians like their suffering & deaths mean nothing.

Again, we owe it to these 7 #WCK volunteers to watch The #Gatekeepers, a documentary by an Israeli filmmaker who managed to interview 6 former directors of #ShinBet.

It opens with a frank discussion about the type of drone strike that #IDF used yesterday to assassinate 7 volunteers who were in #Gaza to provide food to #Palestinians whom #Israel has been starving for 6 months under its official policy of a #TotalSiege, imposed as #CollectivePunishment for #Hamas' actions.

It is overwhelming. Everyone has to take care of themselves & calibrate how much is safe to do.

I do feel incredibly burnt out. It's hard to dredge up enough energy. I think of what the children, moms, dads, sisters & brothers of Palestine are being put through right now & let that move me.

The inhumanity sometimes knocks me flat. I try to keep coming back. If we don't protect them, it's our own backs we're stabbing. The more we allow this inhumanity, the more it will be inflicted

Report today that 's military () just murdered 5 volunteers who were providing nourishing meals in .

@ World Central Kitchen @WCKitchen We are aware of reports that members of the World Central Kitchen team have been killed in an IDF attack while working to support our humanitarian food delivery efforts in Gaza. This is a tragedy. Humanitarian aid workers and civilians should NEVER be a target. EVER. 418 PM - Apr 1,2024 - 1.8M Views
reminder that if Netanyahu & the US gets away with this in — targeting journalists, targeting hospitals and schools and refugee camps, starving millions of children, mass murder on the scale of tens of thousands, shutting down press, internet and information, killing humanitarian workers, preventing crucial aid convoy, firing on people receiving aid, and planning resettlement of regions based on ethnic identity — these methods will be normalized & advanced by other western nations & govts

IDF "executed tens of people point blank, including one of our colleagues, Dr. Ahmed al-Maqadmeh…& his mother, who's also a physician…to say that this is a strategic targeting of Hamas, is an insult to our intellect & our humanity."

"This is a direct targeting of health care workers…when they leave the hospital, civilians give them civilian clothing, b/c wearing scrubs is sticking a target…on their back. That is how systematically health care has been targeted"

This was so obviously a response from to World Central Kitchen humanitarian agency filing a complaint about the IDF shooting at their aid workers on Saturday.

This is the IDF immediately turning around & assassinating 7 of their volunteers - saying "shut up, don't complain, or we'll kill all of you"

Look at their deeds, not words.

As we've seen today from Netanyahu & Biden, & spokesmen like Kirby & Miller - lies come cheap. Deeds, not words.
