Polyherbal cyberpolitics posting. Gay vegan living.

Avi is me in a hat and a short-sleeved flamingo-print button-up in a parking lot. I am mixed and 29 in the picture (30 now).

Background is a blooming palo verde bearing pendulous boughs laden with yellow blossoms almost completely obscuring the thin, skin-like green bark.

#Texas Took Over Its Largest School District, but Has Let Underperforming Charter Networks Expand

The state took over #Houston ISD after one of its #schools continuously failed to meet academic standards.

But an analysis of records shows it’s been more generous with underperforming #CharterSchools, waiving expansion requirements at least 17 times.

On today's Lawfare Podcast, Alan Rozenshtein talked to Jeff Kosseff about his new book, "Freedom of Speech in a World of Misinformation," technology's impact on misinformation, and more. https://www.lawfaremedia.org/article/the-lawfare-podcast-jeff-kosseff-on-why-the-first-amendment-protects-false-speech

@lawfare campaign finance reform is NOT a free speech issue. Paying for bots to spread disinformation is not a free speech issue, it's a money in politics issue. Paying PEOPLE to promote something is not a "free speech" issue, it's ALSO a money in politics issue.

Paid speech is BY DEFINITION not free speech.

This succession movement to shift Oregon’s borders and make the red counties part of Idaho is the very essence of the modern MAGA movement. Political losers who think that government revolves around them and them alone. They are totally unwilling to accept defeat and that makes them the most dangerous people in today’s America. They’ll do anything to stay in power - break laws, commit violence, change the rules and laws and try to shift borders. To hell w/ all of them.

It can't just be differences in vernacular. He confuses his failure to appreciate the meaning of what others say with their not saying anything of worth.

@br00t4c rules and traditions are not laws. Surely the Republican congress will see the need for some continuity within the executive branch; as the party of liberty, they understand the threat of a rogue administration installing loyalists in key positions. I predict effective legislation safeguarding against such legal whiplash just as soon as they've filled those empty posts in the military.

It's obviously all connected & 'concerns' about trans people and CRT are just excuses to make the policy go down more smoothly with the public. To make the debate a mess, emotionally charged & awkward.

The real goal is obvious: Limit the exposure of young people to libraries. It's a war on libraries.

Presumably there'd be Congressional interest in a private citizen monitoring an ally's military in real-time, chatting with the enemy about it, then thwarting the ally. But the GOP House will protect Musk, and the Senate will likely continue its proud tradition of doing nothing.

Elon Musk secretly ordered his engineers to turn off his company’s Starlink satellite communications network near the Crimean coast last year to disrupt a Ukrainian sneak attack on the Russian naval fleet, according to an excerpt adapted from Walter Isaacson’s new biography of the eccentric billionaire titled “Elon Musk.”
