I walk pretty much everywhere in Oakland and I started noticing a weird trend where there were a LOT of free chairs on the sidewalks, so I started taking photos and compiling them into a series called “Chairs of Oakland.”

I have way more than 100 photos, but I tried to compile some of my favorites into a main grid and then made a little honorable mentions grid for the more questionable “chairs” of Oakland.

Special thanks to @blankfrank for reminding me about this little project!

Grid of 36 free chairs and “chairs” found on the streets of Oakland, CA.

Here in Santa Fe, it's gates. Practically every house has an adobe wall around it and the gates are what distinguish them. Lotsa pics, but no move to compile yet.

If we all acted to suppress at the start of surges, we'd have small, brief surges and greater safety.

But if we keep pretending COVID is gone until COVID surges are accelerating, we only needlessly sacrifice the health of more and more people.

It really is insane to me. And it's not like we need to lock ourselves at home. Here's a photo of the beer I safely enjoyed outdoors with family at a Milwaukee beer garden this evening.

This AP story demonstrates how eager some political reporters are to say Trump’s crimes don’t matter. It says the electorate is divided. It says “about half” approve of the indictments. It quotes three of the people polled: all Republicans.

In fact, only a dwindling minority are still able to defend Trump. If you skip the prose and look at the ACTUAL POLL RESULTS, you learn that only 15% of those polled said Trump did “nothing wrong” in Georgia and 21% at the Capital.

One of the many reasons actual doctors and scientists shouldn't debate RFK Jr: because he constantly lies about everything, even simple indisputable facts.

He claims comparative studies aren't done on vaccines.

Yes, they are. Here's one showing the efficacy of the COVID vaccine, and one showing autism is less common in kids who received the MMR vaccine.

His whole shtick relies on repeating lies until the audience starts thinking they might be true. No use in helping him.

    Stop scrolling!

Sit up straight. Turn your attention toward your breathing. Is it shallow? Are you breathing from the top part of your chest?

Take a couple of minutes to get those lungs moving. Breathe in for four counts and out for six. Make sure you breathe from your abdomen. Really pull that breath in then let it out with a sigh. Let those shoulders drop with the exhale.

After that, stretch, move around a bit, and get the blood flowing.
