The irony of Wordpress, the self-described guardian of the open web, causing anyone who gives a shit to pull down their old Tumblrs and blogs to avoid getting sucked into the AI bullshit machine, is really something.
@fraying Is there a way for a content platform to responsibly deal with #ai training aggregators like they do with #search engines? Act as an agent (getting permission and consent) to licence material on creator's behalf? Give authors granular controls? Pass revenue to creators? #wordpress
I don't understand the people who told me I would get more conservative with age. The more powerful I become, the more angry I get at the people who abuse their power and the more aware I become of the ways in which systemic oppression functions.
@evan Mostly the latter. For example, of you identify as Palestinian you might simply be displaying affinity or loyalty to your place/people. Distinct from political or financial commitment to driving Israelis into the sea or supporting Hamas violence against civilians. Or not - the symbols alone don't say.
Cooking and caring about what I cook is one of my primary ways of distressing, and caring for myself. When I don’t do that, or when I have meals which are too ‘hurried’(in both prep, as well as eating of), I get very distressed very quickly.
So I am always trying to do the most laborious thing I can when I cook not just because I get to geek out on techniques, skills, also to get interesting flavors out of my food
@skinnylatte I'm doing dishes that way: slow diligent and watching posture, listening, enjoying the interplay of hands soap water sink and things being cleaned. Surprised how often I utter sounds of surprise, release, frustration.
Trying to eat more slowly; I love to savor food but I scarf if my mind's elsewhere. Working my way back to cooking with plans, intention, patience, presence. Closest practice to meditation I can build into my day.
Seattle Times has a new report on how Boeing's current challenges can be traced to prioritizing shareholders over everything for 25 years, slashing costs and outsourcing key work, weakening unions, and pressuring suppliers, leading to loss of its core competency.

On the Internet there are people into ‘edc’ (everyday carry) but that’s really just ‘I like bags and nice things but I’m not a girly girl I’m a mannnnnn’ acronym

"How to Migrate from Evernote to OneNote: Step-by-Step Guide." Clear wikihow guide, pretty effective method, fast-ish, for Windows. In light of #Evernote killing off the free tier.
@daringfireball says #Apple should stop #advertising on #twitter, building on @ianbetteridge's observation that X's support for hate groups is an advertiser's disqualifier. This would hurt twitter's cashflow fast. A bigger statement: let the Apple store drop the twitter/X apps. Most traffic is mobile and Apple users are premium ad targets. Deny advertiser (and hate group) access to Apple users and see a new kind of power for good emerge. https://daringfireball.net/linked/2023/09/05/betteridge-apple-twitter
I like Rick Beato's take on #AI in the #music business. People who can generate new music, including fakes, are artists do we need a name for them like aiJs?). Everyone is puzzling revenue and rights. Many old assets will become worthless. And technology moves forward despite your attachment to old business models. [#strategy
