can anyone help me remember: a while back, a game dev or studio had made t-shirt kind of embracing the concept of walking sims, rather than the term being a put down on games.

Iโ€™ve tried searching but with only โ€œwalking simโ€ and โ€œt shirtโ€ not a whole lot comes up ๐Ÿ˜…

I want to say they had made one of their own but I canโ€™t recall which. Pretty sure it was after Firewatch but donโ€™t know for sure

I also added Frogmonster to my Steam curator page a little while back, dunno if folks saw? But it's a hugely enjoyable FPS/metroidvania hybrid that takes a little inspiration from Hollow Knight and is so very weird and wonderful. Check it out, super underappreciated gem!

So, given the kinda joke about people hating phone calls, yet using voice chat in games, I can't help wondering what people's preferences may be on chatting in games.

When you play online games, which do you lean towards when it comes to text/voice chat, or other options I didn't fit here, contextual pinging (e.g. Apex Legends), emotes, or voice/chat commands (e.g. Team Fortress 2/AoE 2)?

Repost/boost as you will, curious about this!

What appears to be an impossible trick is one of the coolest practical effects in pinball. A huge magnet is driven along a reversible screw. It's powerful enough to move the ball through the playfield.

Whenever I see a game where a character is jammed airtightly into a specific audience range, I can't help but imagine them in other stories, at other times in their life.

Like imagine an adventure game featuring a tween Putt Putt that's obsessed with Hot Topic and trying to start a YouTube channel.

Or you can go the other way. Imagine Kratos Teaches Typing.

Anyone else remember this game? It was soooooo good. The whole game fit on two 5 1/4 โ€œ floppy discs

The back of the box showing various screens from the game. Basically itโ€™s a racing game where you can modify your car with all sorts of weapons to kill off the other racers. Feels very similar to the tabletop game CarWars by Steve Jackson Games.

Currently playing the strangest game, "Pools". It's a psychological, eerie walking sim type oddness where the player is trapped in a maze of indoor, linked swimming pools, with slides, steps, ladders, etc. You have to slosh your way through water, tip-tap along shiny ceramic tiled floors, and work out a way to escape. You can play on the slides too, to reach new areas. I'm only on Level 2, and it's absolutely bananas, and I'm loving it. ๐Ÿ˜…

Steam has a free demo, btw!

An indoor swimming pool, with the player standing in thigh-deep water. Ahead is a twisting, vertical blue slide tube leading down from the ceiling to somewhere below. The entire room is the pool.

Finished "Pools". What an extraordinary game. Plenty of replayability, there were areas I didn't explore fully as I took the "correct" route early on. One of the levels was MC Escher inspired! Glorious fun.

UPDATE: Had a third Model 1 #SegaGenesis I got some time back as part of a bundle. Ugly on the inside, broken P1 controller port, BUT with a shell that was still in great shape.

So, I swapped its top panel onto the newer unit, giving me a fantastic-condition back-up to my childhood (now Frankensteined) Genesis. (Just missing the extension port cover.)

And then a third ugly one thatโ€™ll be there for parts.
