Where do people who self-host their websites, mastodon instances etc. actually host things these days?

(Hetzner are villains now, and so are DigitalOcean I gather?)

Very cool concept and tempted to jump over, but the upper limit of 100 GB is not ok. Is this a real limit or just a figure of speech?

Apparently even the European Data Protection Supervisor , can't find the funds for it's mastodon servers. Which is bizar if you think about all the "talk" about not relying on , a more independent EU, open standards, security, importance of reliable information etc.

Can be made to work with as well as ? Then podcatchers could work like a client, allowing us to interact directly via comments, favorites and spreading around the best episodes via boosts.

update: it exists but no podcatcher fully supports it yet.

... Und ich schiele ja auch schon seit Jahren auf die Framework Laptops. Leider (und zum Glück) funktioniert mein aktueller noch gut. Aber sollte ich bald etwas neues kaufen müssen, wäre Framework auf jeden Fall in der engeren Auswahl.

Planned power outage in our street, time to test UPS setups.

First observation: no alert to mobile because ISP cabinets outside are also dead, so having the modem on UPS does nothing in this case.

Network equipment UPS went flat after 44 minutes

NAS UPS still indicating near full after 50 minutes.

NAS protection set to 90 minutes just before network went down, unless I plug a direct cable from the laptop this is when it will halt as well.

Of course, main use case is short or local cuts

    First test of an E3D ObXidian nozzle with some fairly abrasive matte material.

    I had this roll of filament sitting on my shelf for over a year after it had already ruined a pair of regular brass nozzles.

    Let's see how this goes!

    En vooral: het is niet normaal dat ze zouden afhangrn van X om die communicatie te doen. NL overheid heeft al een eigen mastodon server maar wij gaan er minstens 4 nodig hebben 😀

    I am wondering whether military leadership is still in Gaza, if they are smart part of them already have left and are steering things from a distance. Although Gaza is surrounded that's possible in many ways, satellite, existing cable connections with egypt etc. Fully destroying will therefore be very difficult, even for Israel.
