As a #mastoadmin with an open singup instance, we have to take our personal feelings out of the equation when dealing with issues.

I'm seeing so many admins willy-nilly block entire instances over nonsense. We are providing a service for people, so think about those people first before doing anything drastic.

I hope users demand to know more about their instance admins. Find out if they are trustworthy, if they have a bad temper, if they are fit to handle and manage your account.

Day 2 of more #PeerTube app design for my upcoming app called "PeerTuber".

Progress:

• I'm hitting the public APIs returning data from a single instance

• Coming up with a base design so I can work around it during development. The app will have multiple themes.

I've been focused on the home feed "look" over the last day but now I'm going to dive more into functionality and the other tabs such as Discover and Library.

Just saw a post with someone complaining about people boosting.. then complained that they don't want to turn off everyone's boosts just to keep up with their friend's updates.

Maybe social media isn't for you. Sometimes logging out and experiencing your friends outside of a website can help too. 🤨

I was so focused on search, that I missed this addition. This was almost the tipping point for me when I first joined #mastodon. Not being able to repost something because I didn't realize I was browsing another instance. I remember I had to download a browser plugins for it 🤨

Getting all mastodon admins to move to closed registrations is exactly what the spammers wanted. It was a smart move and exposes that there needs to be better moderation tools and ways to block spam.
