So I know the point of the fediverse is that all of these platforms can communicate with each other, but it's still so amazing to me whenever someone who follows me from Mastodon interacts with a post of mine from Calckey. 😃🤩

An AI Scraping Tool Is Overwhelming Websites With Traffic

"Eden told Motherboard in an email that he noticed img2dataset was scraping his site, OpenBenches, which invites users to upload pictures and locations of memorial benches from across the world. Currently, OpenBenches has mapped 27,629 benches, and hosts 250GB of photos.

“I noticed because I received an alert from my host that the site was under a sustained attack,” Eden said. “I had to pay to scale up my server, pay extra for export traffic, and spent part of my weekend blocking the abuse caused by this specific bot.”"

Reading this article is making me want to stop posting online. My writing, photos, basically everything. It's really discouraging that the people who create these AI tools feel like anything posted online is theirs for the taking.

So apparently all you need to do to write an article nowadays is come up with four short paragraphs, and then fill the rest of the empty space up with embedded tweets. 😆

I'm reading about the boycott of Target and some of the incidents that happened leading up to Target pulling merchandise from their stores and I went from relatively calm to completely angry in the span of a couple of minutes.

I keep trying to type something longer and eloquent but I'm so angry that I don't know what to say. I hope Target's stock completely tanks and that the boycott continues. I also can't believe how many childish adults are alive in this world and think throwing a tantrum in a store is a good idea.
