really upsetting to see former Wikimedia Foundation director and CEO Katherine Maher getting targeted by the rightwing outrage machine in her new role as NPR CEO. she's wonderful, and NPR is lucky to have her. i hope they stand behind her.

@thomasfuchs @molly0xfff The game they run is being vaguely socially liberal in their cultural & arts coverage so a lot of people read that as being editorially liberal, and allows other bad faith actors to push the narrative that it’s a “leftist” newspaper. When, as you say, it’s just neoliberal right wing.

With respect to @caseynewton and his colleagues at Platformer, it's long past time to fish or cut bait with Substack.

The platform isn't at a crossroads. It has made entirely clear that helping Nazis monetize their extremism is part of the business model, and that while even mild "porn" is unacceptable, the worst kind of extremism is allowed. Substack is a vile publishing partner, period.

Platformer is at the crossroads, and it needs to turn elsewhere. Now.

@dangillmor I find it a little suspect that he doesn’t mention that Substack paid a host of writers a stack of money to move there, making explicit the lie that they’re a neutral platform. Judging by the writers who copped to getting paid it is fairly obvious what their editorial leanings are. So this latest development is not completely surprising.

So many times I see someone boosted into my timeline saying some variation of "Hey! looking for my people. I'm interested in XYZ. Seems kinda quiet around here." And I look at their profile and they're following less than 100 people. Honestly, I think it's one of the biggest drivers for people leaving this platform, not getting over the hurdle that you have to follow A LOT of people. There's no algorithm filling in the blanks.

Chord chart for new track ‘1986’.
Inspired by the All In setting on my UA 1176 compressor, this riff has full chord strumming that needs a thinner pick. This might be the track that requires me to mic the Half Pint. As good as my other amp is into my audio interface, the Half Pint sounds better, even recorded on my iPhone.
