Ein Kniefall vor den Überwachungsplattformen wie Instagram, Facebook, TikTok und Co. Digitale Souveränität am Arsch. Das ist so frustrierend. 😔

@simonzerafa I hope the browser vendors would object. However, the EU seems to position itself to fight exactly that. I don't know how but maybe they could force major vendors indeed. But I think it is better to make sure the law does not pass in the first place.
Most users don't even know what a certificate is...

He bought and has steadily gutted it. The goal is to destroy it because it gave regular people power to organize for change.

Now he’s attacking because it contains facts and education, which are antithetical to the goals of him and his type.

He might be an idiot in a lot of ways. But he is absolutely doing this with purpose. I worry it’s dangerous to view his actions through any other lens.

@chartier Yeah sounds like him. I never liked this guy. My fellow engineering students where hyping him couple years ago. But somehow I saw that coming.

I also think there's a purpose behind. Seems like a common far right strategy: cause chaos, weaken people, weaken democracy, then profit from that. That's also how the far right can easily collaborate internationally. Musk, Thiel, Putin, the German AfD, ...

    @kubikpixel @nohillside Aus dem Titel nicht ersichtlich: Das Argument "funktioniert technisch noch nicht" mag zwar korrekt sein, ist aber nicht das grundlegende Problem. Selbst wenn die Chatkontrolle technisch umsetzbar wäre, ist es dennoch eine Infrastruktur für Massenüberwachung. Jene wird früher oder später für Überwachung von politischer Opposition, Klimaaktivist:innen, Dissident:innen etc. verwendet.

    Naive Frage: Was heisst "keine Mehrheit"? Weder für "ja" noch "nein"? Oder wird einfach solange verschoben bis eine Mehrheit "ja" sagt? Das wäre ja irgendwie nicht der Sinn einer Abstimmung. Ein "Nein" sollte ja genau so verbindlich sein wie ein "Ja".

    I end up explaining over and over again that is not good for being applied unconditionally to human-maintained code.

    Unlike gofmt-like tools that correct bad formatting, rustfmt forces a canonical form of everything. It replaces all human direction with its own primitive heuristics. It doesn't have common sense, and does not allow to be corrected. This frequently leads to absurdly misformatted code, and pointless changes for the worse.

    I'm going to snap and write my own formatter…

    Just have to say this one more time: the whole #X thing continues to profoundly upset me. I left in Oct/Nov ‘22 and have been very happy here, but: i had a really good Twitter community of and academics and lost it all, because hardly anyone came here. And i do not understand how they are ALL continuing to use an ever more overtly fascist platform, along with majority. The very people who i thought were the good, critical ones. I know i shd accept it but struggle.

    @aral While this proof sounds convincing, it is not complete and may wrongly accuse Pennywise of evil it is not responsible for.

    That's unethical. Sorry.

    For the proof to be complete you need to additionally show for example that:

    1. all excrement is on X
    2. and Pennywise exclusively dictates the rules of the sewer it lives in

    From 1) follows that X is the only sewer. From 2) follows that whoever dictates the rules of the sewer must be Pennywise. That's Musk. □

    I hope you realize that you smash your own credibility and trustworthiness. The most important thing you had.

    4. Die zuvor heruntergeladene CSV-Datei dort hochladen

    5. Wenn das geklappt hat, müssten Einträge mit „threads“ auf https://digitalcourage.social/domain_blocks zu sehen sein
