I'm not sure who to feel worse for: my generation, that was brought up believing that the #AmericanDream was real, only to see it crumble to dust during their middle age, or this latest generation, who is growing up realizing that its all bullsh, and there is no point. 😒
I believe in Americanity,
sacred religion of democracy
sung by mad troubadours of city streets
who lounge in the grass on the river shore
and ride with Death in the carriage of faith
sea to shining sea in the
The traveler who maps the signless road
across the wilderness of windy hope
lifts up their eyes to know the world is wide
with beauty of the ideal scene through hype
because they know no land is theirs to claim,
Americans, working class, left, right, and center, shoulder the burden... not the rich, not corporations. That needs to change. Left and right have more in common than they think. #taxtherich#taxcorporations#americandream
“Americans now need to make $120K a year to afford a typical middle-class life and qualify to purchase a home, one expert discusses.”
Not only that, but folks who are “house rich” with sizable equity can’t really sell. Where would they find another home they could afford at today’s rates, even with a large down payment?
This popped up in my memories from 3 years ago. A short story with a few of my favorite things: pursuing dreams, running, importance of place, talking to strangers, kindness, serendipity helped out by one’s own actions. 💕 #kindness#dreams#running#nyc#AmericanDream
My blind mother, who walks on flowing stream,
lost her eyes when she gambled with the sun
in vain attempt to save my soul from pain,
but I can only see her now in dream
holding fabric of my being she had spun

The Story of the American Dream
The clear-eyed, definitive history of the modern American economy and the decline of the American Dream, from the Pulitzer Prize–winning columnist behind The New York Times's “The Morning” newsletter.
And how many hundreds of thousands of John Bartlett's without a TikTok colleague (@m3nta11y1ll1) suffer the same fate every year in the USA?
Only a social market economy with a fair tax model that burdens the rich more than the poor can guarantee humane coexistence.
But the myth of the #americandream (#negativeliberty) prevents a structured, effective equalisation system.
Zoned out on why the girl with seven eyes
steals paper masks from museum of ghosts,
I lean against rail of the lonely bridge
and think about why the sky appears blue
as if the holy words of angels burn

#TrickleDownEconomics holds that #taxes should be cut for the wealthiest #Americans & biggest corps, that public investments in… #education, #infrastructure & #HealthCare should be shrunk, & good #jobs shipped overseas. It has exacerbated #inequality & systemic barriers that make it harder for #Black Americans to start a business, own a home, send their children to school & retire w/dignity.
For generations, #Black#Americans haven’t always been fully included in our #democracy or our #economy, but by pure courage & heart, they have never given up pursuing the #AmericanDream. We saw in #Jacksonville, FL, yet another community wounded by an act of #GunViolence, reportedly fueled by #hate-filled animus. We must refuse to live in a country where Black #families going to the store or Black #students going to school live in fear of being gunned down because of the color of their skin.
Here’s a bit of painful truth. Seems obvious.
The myth of American Exceptionalism came about while the rest of the world was recovering from WWII.
It’s easy to be exceptional when you’re the only one with un-bombed industrial and agricultural capacity.
Once the rest of the world recovered, the need to compete was ignored by the US, buoyed by the false idea of being exceptional. #americanexceptionalism#empire#wwii#americandream#politics
Climate change is an immediate threat to the majority of the world's population.
We need a local, regional, state, national, and international "moon shot" type of concentration of effort using available resources while developing and advancing new science and technologies to counteract the damage humans have caused.
Without this type of all-out, universal cooperation, human civilization, and perhaps humanity itself, are in imminent danger of extinction.
These blooms are likely caused by #ClimateChange, and this business may soon be another Everything, Everywhere, All at Once option for #sustainable#HomeBuilding.
The Exodusters were Black Americans who migrated westward, particularly to Kansas, in the late 19th century fleeing southern violence & discrimination. In 1879, 1000s of Exodusters embarked on an arduous journey, hoping to finally find freedom, land, & economic independence. It is known as the Exoduster Movement and it was the first great migration of Black Americans after the Civil War.

...#RogerFreeman, who also worked for #Nixon, revealed the right’s motivation for coming decades of attacks on higher education."
This is even more disastrous in a work environment in which even mass displacements of #KnowledgeWorkers by #AI technology are expected in the decade to come.
The #GOP is destroying the #AmericanDream for ever more people by dismantling #FDR's policies that created the backbone of modern #US society, the middle class.
