I am fascinated with sunrise and sunset, Golden Hour..
The sky, clouds.
Light and texture. It's never the same twice, and even if you look in the same direction from the same spot at the same time. It is always a different story being revealed and told.
It speaks to an open and optimistic soul.
And it is free for everyone to see and decipher in their own individual way.

Anyone else see some leaves turning yellow already in #Edmonton? It's #July, right? Started noticing this just over a week ago. Along 119 st and yesterday along the #whitemud. #yeg #weather #climate

How it is not an absolute emergency situation when >1 million people have had nothing but toxic air to breathe for 3+ days, I will never understand.

The minimum US EPA PM2.5 we've had over the last three days was just over 100.

The healthy 24hr maximum is 50. Our minimum has been twice that.

I haven't seen the sun in three days. This feels absolutely apocalyptic and I'm finding it harder and harder to cope.

Can AI take on open-source research? Bellingcat’s fellow, Dennis Kovtun, wanted to find out. He tasked two powerful AI tools to geolocate a series of images. Here’s what he found out… https://www.bellingcat.com/resources/2023/07/14/can-ai-chatbots-be-used-for-geolocation/?utm_source=mstdn

To be fair, there's probably also a lot of Edmontonians who would fail to recognize their own City Hall, let alone find it on a map. 😅

For the record, yes, I was watching the game last night. And, yes, I very much enjoyed it. (Long story short, I took a pass on social media last night.)

But next time that and chose to engage in fest, will someone please let me know in advance so that I can make plan to attend in person?

When COVID hit in 2020, my neighbours decided to host a free jazz concert on their front lawn. Three years on, it’s become a beloved neighbourhood tradition.

It looks like some folks are doing a outing on Sunday, July 9 at 10:00 AM from Laurier Boat Launch.

Not sure yet if I'll be able to join, but thought I'd share for other folks who might be interested.

My apple tree was graced with the presence of a pair of Northern Flickers this morning (only one in the photo).

I'm choosing to take it as a sign that today will be a good day.

Given I woke up early this morning with a migraine, though, there's lots of room for it to get better from there.

I'm at the point in our move where I need a fresh fade/trim but I'm terrified to find a new barber.

I used to have my barber come to my home once a month for my cut.

I'm looking for a Barbershop that can accommodate my sensory sensitivities (noise generally) and get me in and out of there quickly. Queer friendly would also be a plus because you never know what you're going to get walking into a Barbershop.

Do any folks in have any recommendations?

Ceno and I just saw some weird UFOs as we were going to bed (June 15 9:40 pm Edmonton). There were two sort of oscillating around each other, another two lower (although it looks like one) and the one on top was long and dangly. Definitely travelling as a system. Totally bizarre.

When I move to new cities weird things happen with the weather, so I’d like to wholeheartedly apologize to Edmonton for being the cause of the hottest summer on record.

Previous things I’ve been at fault for:

  • California’s worst drought since the 70’s.
  • Torontos earliest snowfall in 30 years with the most snow since the 30’s.
  • Multiple winters of the most snowfall in one day on Van Island.

Oops. My bad. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Let me introduce you to your near-neighbour Skye, then. She's extremely cute, with long ears and white-and-black fur.
