finally got a whole group of friends to move our groupchat to #Jami, and we are all loving it. theres no worries about federation, you don't even need to provide an email address, making it as easy to use as downloading an app (getting non-technical people to do anything more is like pulling teeth). Theres no central server that your messages pass through, eliminating a class of worries.
It provides everything any user of mainstream apps expect, and has lots of customization options. Why aren't you using it 🤔
@iak its always been pretty stable for me with the #guix and #fdroid packages, in the 2 years I've been using it. voice calls can vary, but the chat system works great

When you say "#openSource, so everyone benefits" would that mean FOSS? If so you may be able to have apps listed in #FDroid and other places good software is found.
The only time Firefox Nightly isn't the better browser is on Android.
Mozilla does not know how to develop a full web browser for mobile devices. - I wish they did.
I use Mozilla Firefox Focus for my private browsing...i.e.... Those quick, random searches that I don't want to be sold on, just because I looked up a recipe once.
But Firefox Nightly on Android would sometimes remember those private browser searches or keep them open even after I closed the browser.

Anybody reading #comics or #manga on #android? Any good ways to do that via #fdroid? How do people get the books these days? I don't mind paying for it. I'd like to have some #gundam or maybe like #touhou manga or some comics like #witchblade or #hellheim for some upcoming flights. Is there a crash course somewhere?

Tipp Nr.6: Vermeide das Herunterladen von Apps oder Software aus unsicheren Quellen. Nutze nur vertrauenswürdige Quellen wie offizielle App-Stores. Auf #Android kann man auch bedenkenlos den F-Droid-Store nutzen. Fortgeschrittene können unter Android auch die Websites der Entwickler als Quelle nehmen. Bedenke aber immer: Egal aus welcher Quelle man etwas installiert - prüfe zuvor, ob du die App wirklich benötigst bzw. genau hinschauen, was man sich da eigentlich installiert.
@protonmail I don't have any Google services etc on my #LineageOS phone. I'm comfortable installing the apk you make available, but I don't see a way of tracking updated versions - I.e RSS feed of Github. For now I think using the web app via browser might be best. Hopefully down the line Calendar/drive etc can be available on #fdroid

after reading your post I looked around for a android mail client that treats your mailbox like a BBS or microblog, and while I didnt find that I did find #DeltaChat on #FDroid which treats your mailbox like a group chat, and so far its been pretty nice as it allows you to navigate threads a bit easier than the usual phone mail client. But I think if I had my mail in a microblog fashion, where the inbox is like your timeline, and you could jump between "topic timelines" for your various mailing list directories, that would be so much nicer than anything currently available for phones. @lispi314

Das 40,00€ teurer gewordene Nachfolgeticket zum 9-Euro-Ticket soll Daten melken. Zwar solle das Ticket übergangsweise nicht nur für Smartphones erhältlich sein sondern auch auf Chip-Karten und kurzzeitig auf Papier mit QR-Code, aber wichtig scheint es den Regierenden vor allem anderen, dass mit dem 49€-Ticket Echtzeit-Verkehrsdaten erhoben werden können.
Positiv klingt zunächst: "Es werde nicht gespeichert, wer von A nach B fährt, sondern nur, wie stark die Verkehrsmittel ausgelastet sind. Für die Fahrgäste könnte das ein Nutzen sein, weil die Verkehrsunternehmen so für ausreichend Kapazitäten sorgen könnten."
Allerdings: Das Ticket wird wohl nur als Abo personalisiert erworben werden können, so dass darüber anfallende Personendaten zukünftig schnell integriert werden könnten. Mit Hinblick auf den aktuellen massiven Ausbau des Überwachungsstaats und der Kontrollgesellschaft in Deutschland und der EU (digitale Personenkennziffer/RegMod, Chatkontrolle, Identifizierungspflicht, Biometrie, eIDAS uvm) ist es doch auch gar nicht die Frage ob, sondern nur wann und mit welchem Vorwand (Anschläge, Pandemie, Jugendschutz, Wahlkampf) personalisierte Datenerfassung und Polizeizugriffe kommen werden, sobald die digitale Kontrollinfrastruktur erst einmal errichtet wurde.
