What's really pissing me off about the fallout from Humza Yousaf quitting the coalition with the Scottish Greens is having DRoss crowing all over the place.

I was very unimpressed to receive tory party propaganda, in the form of an unsolicited personalised letter from the Prime Minister. That was nothing compared to my teenage daughter's ire when she read it. Good to know her English lessons aren't going to waste...!

The second page of a political letter. It has been extensively corrected in green pen. At the bottom, in bold black ink, it says "Learn how to write first. There is a thing called a comma, so you don't have to use short sentences constantly. Even semi-colons would be better; at least that's somewhat persuasive, you Little Bitch."

For those of you who need reminding, many of the things wrong with this country (irrespective of your political leanings) are the fault of the party that's been in charge for two thirds of the past 100 years, and all of the past 14. This website might help you to change that:

The UK Govt has finally got its Human Trafficking to Rwanda Act passed. May it achieve the final cap of infamy on the head of the Conservative Party.

As Fishi Rishi said, it's an historic day. It'll be the subject of essays by future schoolchildren where the Conservative Party removed any doubt that they were xenophobic hate-mongers, trying to appeal for votes to the most bigoted, intolerant and ill-informed members of society.

As disasters go, the Rwanda Bill knows almost no limits. https://www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2024/04/23/as-disasters-go-the-rwanda-bill-knows-almost-no-limits/. When all the politics is done, some poor refugees will suffer the most inhumane treatment by this government. It is my hope that lawyers will still be able to find ways to obstruct their evil desires.

I am ashamed of my country & government!
This gov't has no compassion, & is willing to break international law in order to deprive desperate people of their right to asylum. What an absolute disgrace.
I hope (but have no confidence) that Labour will repeal this when we finally get rid of these inhumane Tories later this year.

This for me is the last 14 years of Tory rule in a photo.

Nasty, brutish, and ill-tempered. And soon, thank god, it will be over.

Amy Pattison (a student at Sheffield Hallam university) sums up a lot of what has been said here in recent weeks/months:

'It feels like the lesser of two evils – it’s definitely better than going back to what we’ve got.... All I know is I won’t be voting Tory. And whatever I do vote will be tactical'!

I cannot imagine Labour using the lesser of two evils as a slogan, but for many that's what UK democracy looks like right now!

She NEVER listened to anyone. She never did and never will. 10 Days to Save The West is a fatuous, pathetic title. “Maybe I should’ve listenend” would’ve been a far better choice. I’m no royalist, but I shudder to think the Queen had to meet her. We should add regicide to the list of criminal investigations that should surely come her way.
P.S. I didn’t add a hashtag for Truss, because zero people on here are talking about her.

In a warning today the election watchdog the Electoral Commission said voters have until midnight on Tuesday April 16 to register. While 44million are registered to vote in May's local elections as many as seven MILLION are incorrectly registered - or missing entirely from the register, check your entry on the register and amend.

New YouGov MRP analysis suggests that a Labour landslide could see Jeremy Hunt, Penny Mordaunt, Jacob Rees Mogg and Iain DuncanSmith lose their seats. And just possibly Michael Gove.
When it finally comes I know this is going to be an all-nighter. Can't wait to see multiple Michael Portillo moments.

In January last year, made his 'five pledges' speech.

Pledge Number 4 said:

"NHS waiting lists will fall, and people will get the care they need more quickly."

Today, we read 250 people every single week died unnecessarily because they could not be seen by an A&E doctor in good time.

Sunak finished his speech, saying:

'And I fully expect you to hold my government and I to account on delivering those goals. "

We have. You failed.

Short reflections from Nick Tyrone on why it's a huge mistake for the Tories to sneer at London as if anyone beyond the M25 hates it. I live about 60 miles from Hyde Park Corner. I lived in London when I left university. My sons live there. I go regularly to see friends, go to the theatre and galleries, and I love its multicultural richness. Sneering at London is not the vote winner they seem to think.
