It's my #mastoversary this week and one year since I left Twitter.
It's been a fantastic experience being on this platform.
It's slower-paced, missing some key functionality, and it's harder to discover new things and people.
But none of that detracts from how good the content and discussion is. People are enthusiastic and civil, knowledgable and educational and just downright nice for the most part.
Um. I guess I missed my mastoversary five days ago.
Just about one year ago I joined Mastodon. Like so many other folks, during the mass exodus.
What a great decision. I’m so happy to have forged such a wonderful community here. I’m grateful for all of you. Thanks for being awesome and having me in this rad corner of the web. 🙌🏻
One year today since I joined Mastodon. And I’ve never regretted it. Thanks to everyone who makes this space so much fun. And thanks to everyone who has followed me through this adventure! #Mastodon#mastoversary
My 1 year mark with infosec.exchange was a few days ago. Not a lot to say but many thanks to @jerry for the extremely thoughtful and technically proficient way he runs things around here. Most importantly, thanks for giving me a place where I can post more than 500 chars at a time 😁. Here’s to more years!
One year on infosec.exchange and it's been amazing. Thank you to @jerry for hosting (and administering) such an awesome instance of Mastodon and thank you to all of the fantastic people that make up this community.
I too am celebrating a years residency on Mastodon and am grateful for new friends, many laughs with #HashtagGames, and the kindness with which my thoughts, a few photos, many memes and artsy offerings have been received.
@HailsandAles for some reason the image won't load, but that alt text is enough to make me envious 😂
Once the little rascall is in bed I'll have one on your #Mastoversary 🍻
Today is my 1 year anniversary here on #MetalheadClub and on the #Fediverse in general. I’ve had a blast and can’t imagine using any other social media.
Testament to this is that I posted 18k times on Twitter in 14 and a half years.
Here on Mastodon I’m on over 4k posts in one year. So thank you and also I’m sorry 😅
Today's the one-year anniversary of this Mastodon instance, which is also my one-year anniversary here, because obviously if I'm going to join a distributed social network I'm going to do it by setting up an instance for myself, my household and assorted people we know. Just like this entire domain's history, really.
I set it up on a Saturday afternoon with a spare motherboard pulled out of the back of the server closet which was from 2006 and supported a massive 2 gigs of RAM. We upgraded less than a week in because I was all "whelp I guess we're doing this."
It isn't sarcastic to say that one year later I'm still not mad about it, and that's a pretty solid endorsement. xD
In just a couple of hours (21:05 UK Time) #MastodonAppUK will hit it's 1 year anniversary, which honestly looking back is something I wasn't sure we'd make it to for a while.
We've had a wild journey with some huge scaling issues at the start, both being at the time one of the few sites on the #Mastodon website that accepted registrations, being on the BBC news and various radio interviews, we went from 1 or 2 users to over 1k overnight and went onto over 50k in the first week.
Hello, time I made my #introduction.
I post about creative stuff, my day & #dogs & #ADHD (the pros & cons) it's #NeuroDiverse not neurodiminished. Surprising how many creatives & techs now have diagnosis.
I believe in hope, in optimism, in learning from our mistakes, adapting, innovating, improving. I like to post about interesting advances, about beneficial things we can, or could do, at individual or large scale.
#Fediversary#mastoversary
Thinking a lot about my year on the #Fedi & how it's entwined with a whole set of complex & ultimately positive changes in my life.
Particularly in the UK since 2016, it's been easy to focus too much on things that are very complex to change, but not enough on things I can directly affect, which is frustrating & disempowering.
Fedi is a much healthier place, filled with good people, & in many ways I'm heading to a much healthier place than compared to a year ago.
