The anti-abortion crusade (because that’s what it is: a pre-modern overtly violent Christian campaign to conquer The Others™) is a vestigial throwback to ancient Roman policy of “partus sequitur ventrem” which became English common law, and the American colonies adapted it to weaponize sexual violence against people who were considered property (i.e. chattel slaves).

THREAD: I know the adjustment period, where half of our Mastodon posts are about Twitter is long past...but my Globe and Mail story on war crimes published last week highlighted major failures of the social media giants including X & Facebook (what's new?) & their refusal to moderate dangerous speech in non English languages. For non Amharic speaking friends, this thread should be revelatory of the sort of inflammatory material going viral in Ethiopian circles.

We have a humanitarian crisis caused by one of our allies. Israel has gone rogue, ignoring calls for a ceasefire from the UN, showing no remorse for killing children as they give in to their rage over the criminal actions of Hamas.

Biden's inability to control autocratic Israel has divided and will cost him the . returns to office and resumes his narcissitic destruction of the USA.

It was a nice country while it lasted. sucks.

'Decades in the making': Megachurch pastor gives up on Christianity in profanity-laced resignation

Missouri megachurch pastor Dave Gass stepped down from his position after 40 years and renounced his Christian faith,

“The entire system is rife with abuse. And not just from the top down, sure there are abusive church leaders, but church leaders are abused by their congregants as well. Church people are just sh*tty to each other,” he tweeted.

In the western Christian tradition, today is the Feast of the Epihany. In the eastern tradition, it's called Theophany. It marks the day when the three Magi are believed to have visited the baby Jesus.

Last night was Twelfth Night, when we were all meant to take down our Christmas decorations. And next Monday will be Plough Monday, when we are all supposed to get back to work.

We managed the former anyway...

When people say that #science explains the 'how' and #religion tries to answer the 'why' they are ignoring the fact that science does not, and never will, explain the only 'how' that matters:

How did anything come into #existence in the first place?

Any entity, system or law that we discover cannot be the answer, as it will always require another explanation.
