Fabulous day at the Heritage in the rain, it's a wonderful place wherever the weather really.

One of the features of beautiful wooden furniture is the grain of the wood, brought out with careful polishing.
It's pretty rare to see that grain on a still-living tree, though!

No idea how he got there but should be hibernating somewhere nice and cosy at this time of year, not on a window sill behind the shutters ☹️
Yesterday I was in Westminster Hall, which has the largest medieval timber roof in Northern Europe. It's ~600 years old, & storing carbon for all that time.
