Salut, j'aimerai bien afficher dans ma barre des tâches la température de mon pc. Je suis sous debian 12. J'ai déjà le visionneur de capteur installé mais j'aimerai l'avoir affiché quelque part en permanence.

There are many government PCs out there that have 4 GB of RAM and won't run Win10 well anymore due to it requiring 3.2GB of RAM for itself on a clean boot (plus ~1.5 GB of Chrome + MS Office on top of that).
If only someone could convince them to just install #Debian and #XFce on them (750 MB of RAM needed on a clean boot), it'd be a good way to save our smelly landfills from abandoned computers. #Chrome + MS #Office on top of XFce would barely touch the 2 GB mark.

As much as I like #Linux and #FOSS, it's baffling to me that its #accessibility features is terrible. Built-in screen readers cannot read #Firefox and #Chromium website text well, and its default is so bad its voice is terrible (enough that those how have both vision and auditory issues may give up), #KDE and #Xfce accessibility features are still lacking, no accessibility features for colorblind people as if they don't even exist, CLI and most of its defaults aren't friendly for those with disabilities,...
And before saying that FOSS softwares usually lack accessibility features due to their natures of voluntary and community-funded softwares, sorry, you can't excuse or rationalize that a software is bad, it's just bad. How can some people who can have patience to fix their own softwares that other has done before them cannot be as enthuiastic to improve Linux and #FOSS accessibility???

Heya, folks! We want to start the new year off right, and what better way to do that than a new Solus release? That's right, Solus 4.5 Resilience is now available to everyone! A ton of work has gone into this release, including a new installer with #Calamares, and a new #XFCE Edition!
As we all know, Ultramarine 40 will be coming very soon, including the new XFCE Edition! So, we would like to collect some ideas for the theming and layout from our fellow users :3

The latest #Debian#Gnu/Hurd OS, as I ran it tonight. Very unstable and buggy, but fun to see. It is able to run #XFce at 200 MBs of RAM (Debian #Linux does so at ~800 MB).

Looks like the #XFCE#screenshot tool will soon have that awkward "Upload to #Imgur" option dropped. Good riddance! I never understood features like this one, especially when it goes to a #proprietary service.

#Android od dawna robi wszystko, żeby stać się jak najmniej przyjaznym dla tych, którzy chcą "po staremu" ściągać pliki z telefonu przez kabel, bez konieczności logowania się do zewnętrznych usług. Na razie udaje się to obejść przez proste włączenie debugowania USB na telefonie przed transferem, ale niektóre menedżery plików w #Linux - ie robią głupie rzeczy. Pod #KDE jest to droga przez mękę, z kolei Thunar (domyślny menedżer w #XFCE) łyka to bez popity, a Nemo (menedżer w Mincie) lubi wywalać taki błąd, który po kolejnym podłączeniu telefonu znika i wykrywa pamięć normalnie.
Nie jest to problem, który nie daje żyć, raczej drobna upierdliwość. Ale może ktoś ma pomysł, jak się tego pozbyć? Takie okienko nie jest typowe tylko dla tego modelu (tak, mam chinola, ale jak na razie jest fajny), ale pojawiało się również w Motoroli, Huawei i Samsungu.
Spent the day installing #Mint#XFce to an old Acer #laptop of my sister in law's brother (I've converted everyone to #Linux in the family). Acer's firmware was very buggy, so it took tricks to load grub.
Installed them a few apps, and they will be super happy with their new (old) laptop. Previously, #Windows 10 was dying on that laptop, it was that slow, as it was swapping furiously! Mint loaded in about 1 minute, which is good (considering the very slow hdd).
