I'm taking a grad school classes for my degree at - it is a remote class, so we are required to make posts on a forum, then post two responses to others.

Annnd, one of my cohort obviously used bad AI saying nothing to make his initial post summarizing an article.

"The implementation of the BI Agile starts from the start, which should be considered a key element of the successful BI project."

So, I posted on his thread, asking him to explain his summary.

ScottStarkey,
@ScottStarkey@hoosier.social avatar

But I'm a little mad about it. I'm working my butt off for an A, and this dude is pretty obviously using AI.

Another example from his summary: "Attestation carried out by practitioners, with long term professional expertise, will make possible the confirmation of effectiveness of this process in enterprise business environment that is continuously changing." 🙄

I asked him about a couple of his ridiculous theses in the forum, as if he wrote them.

An Amazon that's supposed to surface useful information from customer reviews will also recommend a variety of racist books, lie about working conditions at Amazon, more. They just put a full, easy to abuse chatbot on their site

So got a major upgrade recently. He moved from a (2.4B) model to a (7B) model. Trained on 300k messages from our private chat history, Steeve is way more capable of following the conversation now. He used to have some "favorite phrases" he would say a lot, and I'm seeing less of that. His vision and reading models also got upgraded, so he gets more detail about the links and memes we share. Long live Steeve! :steeve:

Klarna says its AI assistant does the work of 700 people after it laid off 700 people

Klarna boasted its AI assistant “is doing the equivalent work of 700 full-time agents.”

That statement may raise eyebrows for anyone who remembers the middle of 2022, the company laid off roughly the same number of employees, then about 10% of its staff

Can anything be done to ensure that the same standard is applied to the meatbag clerks at a local utilities office? Today I was given three incompatible opinions regarding a billing issue, but none of those idiots are liable for what they spew and how convenient it is that they never yield any written statements, it's all just advice.

A huge thank you to all who joined us at The Children's Society office in London for an incredible Drupal Meetup yesterday!

And a special shoutout to our excellent speakers, Noah Santoni and Vincenzo Gambino, for sharing their expertise on AI chatbots with Flowise and decoupling Drupal with AstroJS, respectively. Your insights inspired us to push the boundaries of building chatbots and web development using these latest open-source technologies!

Gratitude to The Children's Society for generously providing the space for our gathering and sponsoring refreshments. Your support made this event possible, and we're genuinely grateful for your partnership.

Thanks to Andy Read and Matt Summers-Sparks, our fellow organizers, for their hard work and dedication in putting together such a successful meetup. It's through your efforts that our community continues to thrive and grow.

I look forward to seeing you all in next month's meetup to learn, share, connect and have another round of pub discussions!

"How Allowing Copyright On AI-Generated Works Could Destroy Creative Industries"

interesting arguments in link below.

and copyrighting AI-gen'ed stuff would be the first criminal protection for robots.

Not a good idea to me-- but do you think the Copyright Lobby (AAP AuthorsGuild RIAA) will side with creators or robots? I wager the corporate robots.

wagesj45,

@brewsterkahle If it were up to me, it would be a little of both. protects work, so the big debate is "what is human work?" And it depends!

I "wrote" a TTRPG book with , going back and forth, giving it instructions, synthesizing its ideas/suggestions, and used it as a tool. Should I own the copyright on that work? I think so. I think that is fair.

I have an automated AI set up on a chatroom. Should I get copyright on its output? No, I don't think so.
