So I hear people are upset about the state of the Democratic Party. Well, I have good news for you - you, too, can join the local party and start enacting change from the inside!
I mean, it depends on where you live, really. You can start showing up at the monthly business meetings anywhere, and they'll probably have something you can do. But if you live anywhere but a major metropolitan area, you can probably put yourself into a leadership role in a matter of weeks. I'm the Vice-Chair for Activities and Training in my county party. Mostly because I have a van and storage space to hold the awning, table, banners, and other gear we take out to local events to try to let people know we exist. They wanted me to be the Vice-Chair for Candidate Recruitment, but I have literally no contacts in the county - I'm retired, commuted to another county when I DID work, and I don't attend church - so instead, that position has been vacant for over a decade, now. If I quit, my job would go empty until the remaining members could argue one of the group into taking over - there would be competition to NOT take the role.
In some counties, it's even easier. There's 159 counties in Georgia, but only 117 county committees. So in 42 counties, you could be the County Chair for the effort of rounding up three buddies and filling out the paperwork.
Once you're in the party, you can work your way up. Want to attend the state convention, make contacts with others, join state issue committees? Just be willing to pay your own way.
I mean seriously. If you just want to sit on the couch and bitch, that's fine - I do my fair share of that, too. But if you want hurdle the bar to actually DOING something? That bar is in Hell - the only way NOT to get over it is to not try.
The Biden Administration has decided to hold off on the promised Title IX regulations that would protect trans & nonbinary students until after the elections because, “it seems to be too much of a hot topic.”
"The #Biden Administration has decided to hold off on the promised #TitleIX regulations that would protect #Trans & #Nonbinary students until after the elections because, “it seems to be too much of a hot topic""
I'm sure these young people will thank the frightened old white men running the #DemocraticParty when they're old enough to register and vote
“So all those promises to world leaders about his commitment to a 2 state solution were a bunch of lies,” Martin Indyk, the United States’ former ambassador to Israel, wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “And all those enablers who swore Bibi was serious about peace have some [e]xplaining to do.”
If you're Democrat, this should interest you further:
“A handful of Republican billionaire mega-donors are using AIPAC to spend in Democratic primaries against Black and brown progressives, funding primary campaigns against the most popular and progressive members, so this should be a scandal”
“The whole of the Democratic Party should be united in opposition to this.”
And for those of you who identify as progressive Democrats, this should interest you further:
“A handful of Republican billionaire mega-donors are using AIPAC to spend in Democratic primaries against Black and brown progressives, funding primary campaigns against the most popular and progressive members, so this should be a scandal”
“The whole of the Democratic Party should be united in opposition to this.”

and when #biden and the #democraticparty lose theyre going to turn around and blame #muslims and #arabs especially #Palestinians for not keeping their mouths shut about #dems killing their family members and friends and not biden for literally shooting himself repeatedly in the foot and blatantly doing the opposite of #public opinion. im telling you this is whats going to happen and theyre going to call us selfish and what we're doing "fake #activism" or whatever. #usa#america#genocidejoe#psa
This does need to be said, for anyone who's still inside the #DemocraticParty of the U.S., why the hell are you still complicit within a party that is actively promoting #Genocide to millions not only just in #Palestine but in #Yemen & so many countries?
For anyone who cares, it looks like the last functioning hospital in the #Gaza Strip is about to be invaded. This whole episode and the willingness of major powers to arm and encourage it will be a moral stain on the #DemocraticParty, the US, and the EU for generations to come.
@RollingStone Getting harder and harder not to recognize we are already in the middle of a second Civil War.
Well, that's not accurate. The first one never ended the Confederacy merely retrenched and bided its time. Eventually, the #DemocraticParty played into their hands with adoption of #Neoliberalism that is a close cousin of the #NeoConfederate belief system. Now the billionaires created are bankrolling the movement and its huge Ministry of Disinformation.
@GhostOnTheHalfShell@RollingStone Yes, but IMO they were kept somewhat in check until the #DemocraticParty collaborated by full throated adoption of #Neoliberlism (rapacious laissez faire capitalism) that allowed capture of MSM, creation of 24/7 propaganda networks, and increasing shift of wealth to the top.
The Left Wave and the Red Wave will overwhelm #Biden in the next #election. The Left has always been ignored, placated, and betrayed by the #DemocraticParty. Centrist Democrats and Boomer Democrats will not win this time. Progressives are going to express their anger at the polls. What happens after that—well, good luck to us all.

Ever since I left Israel many decades ago and decided not to make aliyah I have lived comfortably in the United States on the center left of the political spectrum.
I have been a critic of Netanyahu and watched with sadness the direction Israel has taken in the last decades, and I have cheered for the resistance strength of Israeli society against the judicial reform.
And I have done all of this as a religious Jew not as a secularist. I live my life to make Torah manifest in the world and to do the mitzvot of hashem.
But now for the first time I'm wondering whether there's a place for me in America, whether there's a place for me in the Democratic party, whether there is a place for a Jewish social democrat in America.
Why am I not with my people in its hour of need? Who are these Jew haters around me? Should I retire to Israel in a few years? Would that even be financially possible? What about my family members in America who depend on me?
... and don't even get me started about the disgusting anti-democratic neofascist antisemitic Christian nationalist Republican party... I will never have a home there no matter how much they profess support for Israel.
The problem is I'm beginning to wonder if I have a home in the Democratic party either.
Politically it turns out I'm just a Jew living in galute...
Hey maybe this was never my place at all. Maybe America is not my home even though I was born here.
That's the feeling in my heart as I see the street demonstrations and read the crap that comes over the intertubes...
