A long and nice post on observing this pair of birds raising chicks over several seasons in Singapore.
"This pair of birds are so happy with this situation that they came back repeatedly and to this date, has successfully raised 5 chicks in total. In this post, I note the interesting events and observations throughout the breeding season."
I usually don't write about the photo in my "good morning" narrative, but their story popped into my head.
The local pigeons are very annoying in my backyard, they mob the feeders which caused me to purchase new, pigeon resistant, feeders. They also congregate on my roof in the mornings for a bit making my house look like the pigeon lady from "Home Alone II."
I have to say though, they sort of pay me for the trouble they cause. Pigeons dance in the sky for me every day. They are quite beautiful swooping through the air high and low, synchronized as if one mind guides them all.
"We remain friends; for if the pigeon-house does not lack food, it will not lack pigeons; good hope is better than a bad holding." - Miguel De Cervantes Saavedra
Hmmm ... I just looked an article that say that rock pigeons are quite sexually dimorphic. I think this is Ralph and Alice, but I'm not completely sure. It could be Ralph and Ed or even Betty and Veronica. Having said that, I'm fairly certain that the bird on the left is a male because of his colorful neck and chest; he also seems to have a thick neck and chest. I'm not certain about the bird on the right at all but think it's she.
Sending out my thanks to my 7/23 #FineArtAmerica client from Sugar Land Tx for their purchase of a 60"x80" Sherpa Fleece Blanket of "Mourning Doves in A Morning Flurry." I hope you enjoy it for many years to come!!!
An #Arizona#wildlife center is receiving up to 120 animals a day suffering from the relentless #heat

"Mosby and her team aren’t the only ones working to protect Arizona’s vulnerable wildlife as the unwavering heat continues to torment animals and humans alike.
"To help the state’s animals survive the #ExtremeWeather, the Arizona Game and Fish Department has been bringing water to the wild to help keep animals hydrated.
"The agency deploys water shipments on trucks and helicopters to man-made catchments across Arizona – some capable of holding up to 10,000 gallons of water, according to habitat planning program manager Joseph Currie.
"Currie estimates there are about 3,000 of these man-made watering holes around the state where #deer, #elk, #BighornSheep and other animals now drink and cool themselves off in the extreme heat.
"When Arizona hit 110 degrees 27 days ago, water gauges showed that usage exploded, Currie said.
"The watering holes were originally created for #quail and #doves to increase hunting population numbers, but newer catchments grew in size over the years as the agency found that more animals needed a drink.
"#Droughts and #HeatWaves are occurring more often and becoming more intense across the nation – particularly in the West and Southwest – creating dangerous conditions and affecting water supplies for wildlife, according to the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
"The program is currently funded by a combination of federal funds and fund-raising efforts. But 'if it keeps heating up and keeps drying out, then of course costs are going to increase,' Currie said."
This is an image that reassures those of us who get sad sometimes about all the extinct creatures that we won't get to see alive in all their glory it's a drawing that's saying "shhh it's OK. They live on. Look! Look at the doves!"

Good title for the sequel to Hitchcock's film. Venice and, in particular, Piazza di San Marco would have been the ideal location. I was there and I can confirm it. 🤣
Photo taken seventeen years ago with my little Optio 5n. Most of the doves are blurred but I like the picture.
It stormed last night. At about one in the morning, I heard Ben bark, so I got up and opened the bedroom door. Of course, Ben and Charlie were both there, they get scared when it thunders. I laid back down. Ben crawled under the bed, and Charlie flopped down wherever, and we all went back to sleep. Until about 06:30 when Charlie decided it was time to get up.
I can't exactly emphasize with Ben and Charlie, but it seems like I can come close. Or perhaps it's just compassion. Either way, they are both good decent states of mind, worthy of practicing in public.
Oh, if you don't already know, Ben and Charlie are dogs.
