The fediverse won’t succeed at putting up a #Stackoverflow substitute and that’s a problem?
Just an impression: All the pieces seem to be there. But what’s required is a team, with devs, PMs and coordinators, dedicated to making a particular place in the #fediverse .
That’s resources and decently sized financial and organisational demands, especially to get a critical mass of users.
Is the fediverse up to that challenge? If not, is it an issue worth addressing?
My call-out to 2 Nazis were removed by my instance. Any naivety about #Mastodon is now buried deep. I had to leave my previous instance due to its antissemitic policy, and this past week antissemitism and xenophobia just run wild across the #Fediverse without consequence. Jewish lives don't matter here, if you defend the extermination of an entire country that's fine as long as it's #Israel.
Mastodon is as full of hate as any other social media.

Look at how @mikedev designed events in @streams! I would love to see this implemented in other software. @julian have you thought about how @nodebb would display an #ActivityPub event yet? Does @silverpill's @mitra have any support? What about @grunfink's SNAC?
Hey @MDN, with Stack Overflow’s ongoing community implosion, now would be an excellent time to launch MDN Answers so people have a better place to help each other learn.
Most forks fail because you need a core developer to maintain the project
There are dozens of misskey forks, and most of them fail after a few months or a year (calckey ->firefish)
You can't just fork something and live off hopes and dreams
This is why I believe it's in my best interest as the core maintainer of Pixelfed to work with our community as much as possible to eliminate the need for a fork

Bluesky enthusiasts are stating that Bluesky has ”plans” to make ATProto universal and transfer it to W3C or the like. Well, there is no evidence that Bluesky wants to give up control or the protocol is going to be widely adopted after 5 years of development so forgive me being sceptical. The story is a bit different with ActivityPub.
@rolle agree. If they were serious about this, they would commit to participate in social web working group and to moving toward full federation with the rest of the #Fediverse, instead of scoffing at anyone who raises these points.

Habe gestern mein X-Profil auf Privat gestellt. Seit der Neuerstellung im Februar (bin vorher wegen der zunehmenden Grauslichkeit der Plattform ausgestiegen, dann doch wieder angemeldet um doch zu wissen was dort so läuft..) fast jeden Tag eine neue Spam-Robot „Followerin“ entfernt. Wollte nicht, dass der Grossteil der Followerschaft aus unseriösen Spammern besteht.
Generell gilt da eh für mich:
Qualität geht vor Quantität.
