A quick check in on the Xiaomi 14, and while this is an awesome camera, it turns out I TOO have issues with condensation and the lens fogging up. Has YOUR Xiaomi suffered similar issues? Has Xiaomi fixed or exchanged your phone?
After extensively using the #lens#Haskell library for half a year at work I have now played around with the #optics library again. I am amazed by how much more helpful error messages are with #optics. It’s an amazing library and I would recommend it over #lens whenever you have the choice.
One of the rarest Topcon accessory is the UV mount adapter. If you look at a UV mount lens, it has no aperture control ring. Works on a UV mount camera as the camera has an aperture ring on the mount. the other Topcon cameras used the R or RE mount (based on exakta) so they made an adapter. Not that many were sold, or maybe they got discarded as people though it was just random lens parts… at any rate they rarely show up for sale anywhere.
After partially disassembling the lens, I was able to free the adapter. No wonder it was wobbly, it was held together with only one of 3 screws. And, I doubt this is original, but there was a o-ring in the sandwich of parts making up the adapter. My guess is that the o-ring was added to compensate for the 2 missing screws, leaving a path for light to enter without it.
The aperture stop spring and bearing was also missing.
Not Queen Latifah, just a camera. At launch, the Auto 100 came with a 53mm f2 lens and 2 optional lenses, a wide 35mm f3.5 and a 100mm f4. Not long after that they added a 135mm (a massive affair) and a 200mm f4 (the Topcon RE version was 5.6). With the lauch of the Unirex, they would later add a 28mm for the UV line (wink, uni / auto 100, unirex, ic-1). They are called UV #topcor because the glass is coated to block UV, making a uv filter superfluous. #camera#topcon#lens

Shot with my Fujifilm XT-20 and a Tokyo Kogaku topcon RE Auto 35mm 2.8 manual focus lens in Topcor RE mount, adapted with speed booster for a true 35mm field of view and great night time performance.
So far, no other UV Topcor (Topcon) lenses tested positive for thorium. This is a different series of lenses / system than the Topcon RE lenses. They are still high quality but have no built-in aperture control, which helped reduce the cost. low chromatic aberration, nice contrast & sharp. Topcon made lenses for #Leica before this.

On a whim, I decided to measure the radiation level of this Tokyo Kogaku (Topcon) lens. It is an unusual lens in that it doesnt have an aperture control ring. There is an aperture mechanism, but if is controlled by the camera (like a Topcon Unirex or Topcon IC-1). It is a sharp lens, but given it was the more affordable line (the RE was 50% more expensive), didn't expect Thorium was used for the lens. Then again, it is a 50mm from the 1960s.
Does anyone have a picture of Japan’s first digital computer, the FUJiC? It is on exposition at the National Science Museum in Tokyo. Looking for a good picture with a straightforward CC license.
The research to design the computer started in 1949, and manufacturing started in 1952. Photographic lenses were designed based on the computations staring in 1956.
Over 10 years ago, this weird little plastic lens came on the market. For Nikon and Canon. I used the Nikon version with my Nikon F3 and Fujifilm S3 Pro. It was the Holga Lens Turret. A pinhole camera with 2 removable turrets for special effects. It wasn't on the market that long, it's a shame cause it is fun. They never made one for Fuji X but that is not stopping me from trying it out on the X-T5 using a Nikon AI to Fuji X adapter.
This is a #lens branded Porst, a german photo retailer & mail order company that no longer exists. I’m hoping that someone might have some insight on who might have manufactured this lens. It is a 24mm f3.5: multi coated, with a #Fujica AX mount, for #porst CR1 CR3 CR5 and CR7 cameras, and fuji AX1, AX3, AX5 and STX cameras. Says “lens japan” but not made by Fuji. Fuji had a 24mm 2.8. Porst had a few rebranded fuji like the 50mm 1.2.
We are trying to figure out which distortion correction algorithm is used in the embedded lens correction metadata in Nikon Z series cameras! It seems to not be ptlens (which is used by lensfun).
I'm getting an idea for a new #3dprintedlens. As before with the #stereography lens, it wouldn't be fully printed. I'm thinking of making a #pinhole#photography#lens. This morning I tried a moderately sized pinhole and a random positive lens from a projector and it worked. The pinhole made a blurry image, the lens corrected the image. From experience I know that both the lens and the pinhole need to be at their particular spots. I just need to get approximate dimensions and then adjust.
