Ok, maybe my rage is irrational here, but holy s*** I'm so done with the app-search in #GNOME. I write quickly the three letters of an app I'm trying to open, but for a split-second it hasn't completed the search. So when I write them quickly and press enter, it opens an entirely different app 🙃 I wish it would just... wait for the search to complete or something before launching an app?!

Stupid question time: I have been sticking with X11 on my laptop running Kubuntu/KDE/Plasma. Should I switch to Wayland, or is it still not ready for daily use? Mostly running Firefox, Chrome, LibreOffice, jEdit.

Any recommendation on a service to host npm, nuget, pypi, rubygems and rpm private packages ? Something like Nexus or Artifactory but managed.
We found https://fury.co/ but checking for other options.

Linux distro: Announces its departure from Twitter due to the latter's decision to promote harmful right-wing ideologies, and encourages their users to subscribe to their RSS feed and/or follow their Mastodon account.

Twitter replies: Full of Musksniffers who complain that the distro is "virtue signalling", has "gone woke" and shouldn't make political statements, while they ignore that most Linux distros and FOSS projects are inherently political and ideological.

Absolutely can't wait until the birdsite dies off completely.

Hello @tuxedocomputers, @slimbook, @system76/@system76, @purism, @novacustom, @start9labs & any other companies making with preinstalled roaming around on the , I have a seemingly stupid question for all of you:

How come, as far as I know, none of you ever made any , like Acer's Spin series, HP's x360 laptops, a non negligible part of Lenovo's Yoga laptops, or a growing number of Chromebook?

Because I would buy such a Laptop, especially if it used (or a distro of it) as firmware. 😉

I mean, it's not like GNU/Linux didn't have some that would be great with a , like , or to name a few.)

My employer got me a new laptop. It's got Ubuntu Pro with Gnome desktop and it's enrolled in Landscape. It also has an extra Nvidia gpu for which they only configured Nouveau.

Coming from 8 years on Manjaro and the Cinnamon desktop I thought it would be an interesting experience.

I'm only a couple of hours in, but right now I am just hoping it will get better as and when I get things tweaked enough.

But for sure, I won't be using any for my own devices! Yuck...

Facebook served up some memories of me with Mr. Ex. I reacted with a mix of anger, loneliness, and longing. Why do I read these damned things? Another memory was of me playing with Ubuntu 11.04. That one was amusing. I've been messing with for a long tine. That particular memory was not the first time I played with this stuff. centered and feeling pleasant.

I first starting tinkering with Caddy (the web server) when I hosted my own Mastodon instance, but my tinkering really only involved copying and pasting someone else's working configs.

After running it at home for some personal infrastructure, I'm really impressed. The config is quite minimal and lots of things I normally need to configure (like HTTPS redirects) are there right out of the box. 👏
