#arkansas would be a great place to live if #cannabis was federally legal in the #USA and if you own a tornado shelter, air conditioner, home school your children, and are not #lgbtq2sia Lol 😭
@schizanon I literally moved here from downtown #toronto lol and yes I agree, but the internet I have rn isn't too bad, it's been working well for 4 years and is very fast, but I'm not #offgrid lol
Hello fellow #Vegans
An #introduction as I have just joined here (if you recognise my avatar, that's because I was previously on climatejustice.social)
I have been #vegan since #Veganuary 2019 and currently live aboard a #narrowboat touring England's canals. We are #carfree and mostly #offgrid. I love living out in #nature, foraging - especially for #tea leaves - and living a slow, as-calm-as-possible life.
My hobbies include #cooking and I share my #WFPB#VeganRecipe creations on my ko-fi page - the food is good, the photography not so great!
I am also a keen reader and post two vegan #BookReviews each week - one fiction and one nonfiction. (If you're a #VeganAuthor please feel welcome to tell me about your books.) You can see my most recently posted reviewed books in my header image.
Kyl/frys, internet, dator, ladda skruvdragare, belysning.
För mig är det snarare en trygghet.
The new 12V refrigerator at the summer cottage causes a buzzing noise in the radio on a particular channel whenever the compressor is running. It is a battery radio, so not interference through the wires!
If you know of particular #opensource apps on #Linux that could benefit from additional automatic #power / #energy savings mode, adaptiveness to low #RAM conditions, or awareness of #mobile data connections, please file tickets & let us know so the effort can be tracked there.
Generations of solar panels: installation upgrade, nominal 63W to 375W. The old panel that served for around 30 years was still working, but a bit low-powered. De facto output seems to be around 6 times higher as well for the new one. The Victron system is also good at teasing out power despite some clouds.
The most annoying part was when I messed up the ”no tools needed” MC4 connectors and had to drive to get a new pair. #offGrid#solarPower
Now, here's what I'm thinking for the next set of panels.
Same aluminum T track mounted to the roof, but instead I'm cutting aluminum flat stock that will run the entire width of the panel. The panel gets glued and bolted to this bracket, then the bracket gets bolted to the track.
I could just glue these panels to the roof, but having an air gap will help them last longer (well, that's the hope) - and bolting them to a track makes them easier to replace if needed.
On vacation ~a month ago, I got to take a tour of my uncle's "off-grid" home power system. That seems possibly interesting to some folks who follow me, so I'm taking you on the tour also. Let's go! (This is Mina, my uncle's gorgeous dog.)
Balancing my time between work and planning my summer hobby projects.
Trying to figure out the best bang for my literal buck... trying to decide between a 4G/LTE/5G router, more solar panels, a second inverter... those are probably the largest purchases I'm considering.
Leaning heavily towards more solar panels having the biggest impact for my money. I've got 1400W now. Bumping that to 2100W would be a significant improvement.
Made in Poland, choć silnik Toyota.
Ktoś pamięta nazwę? Mówiło się o nim aeromobilny.
Porozmawialiśmy chwilę, zgodzili się na fotki "anonimizowane" 📷
Used my new solar oven for the first time #today ! I was really unexpectedly impressed with this little oven!
First I made gingered carrots w butter and brown sugar. They came out hot and sizzling. They tasted amazing, it cooked beautifully and it seems really efficient. It took only 30-40 minutes. #cooking#solar#offgrid
