Green-up in Fairbanks is approaching. Using observed temperatures since March 1st and the forecasts for the ten days, our little model now showing a 60 percent of green-up late next week. The long term average green-up is May 8 and this year is sure to be earlier than that. @CarrieinFbx @anisian @mivox @themattphelps @debmcqueen @leepetersen @dboo @Climatologist49

There is a lot, and of course, not everything will get covered, but it may be covered later. Here are my picks; the list is subject to […]

Fairbanks Airport March 21-25 average high temperature was 48.0F(8.9C). That makes this the third warmest 5 days this early in the season in the past century. The only milder 5-days were in 2019 (49.4F, 9.7C March 21-25) and 1998 (49.0C, 9.4C March 20-24). The 1991-2010 normal high temperature for this time is 28.2F (-2.1C). @Climatologist49 @CarrieinFbx @leahwrenn @anisian @mivox

Fairbanks Airport 0.52 inches (13.2mm) of rain since Thursday afternoon, making this the highest 24-hour May precip total since 2012. Eielson AFB reported 0.68 inches (17.3mm) of rain. Hopefully this will put the kibosh on the accumulating pollen. @Climatologist49 @leahwrenn @CarrieinFbx @anisian @KarenLikesRocks @debmcqueen @mivox

Caught these red tulips behind city hall in Coralville, Iowa.

It's nice to catch spring flowers in the shade. The reds, oranges, and yellows really pop.

The Tanana River at Nenana is showing a lot of melt water on top of the ice Tuesday early afternoon. Continued mild weather this week ensures it will be an early break-up this year, but remember, the tripod has to move 100 feet to trip the clock. Image courtesy Nenana Ice Classic.
