It's strange to me when I see people get upset about people doing good deeds, and posting it online.

"They're just doing it for attention!"

Yeah, so what? I'd much rather see people doing nice things for attention, than the people who do mean pranks or wasting food. A good deed is still good, even if it's done for the wrong reasons.

CatDragon,

@RickiTarr and just maybe someone will see it and decide to do it too.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams says ~300 arrests made on two campuses in response to attempts to radicalize people in the city. https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/columbia-university-protests-nypd-video-hamilton-hall/5371376/

@w7voa yeah Mayor Adams blathering on about outside agitators influencing “our children” is pretty hard to choke down. Apparently not supporting genocide is radical behavior.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

@RickiTarr honestly? Both times all I wanted to do was sleep. If I could have hibernated for nine months and woken up after delivery it would have been perfect.
Oddly I had sleepy babies too. Even brand new they’d stretch a bit, nurse and fall back into a dream. I’d wake up and check them the first few weeks for fear something had happened but they were only sleeping in whatever cloud babies float in.

The Tale of Two Gynecologists

This is a bit long, and I've talked about this a lot lately, but it's something I'm thinking about a lot in the wake of so much hatred of female Healthcare. When my female troubles got bad enough that I finally talked to my doctor about it, he referred me to a gynecologist. I had already had several ultrasounds and an MRI at this point, and she had put me on some oral contraceptives for several months, (which made sick to my stomach no matter what I did) and had just done another ultrasound. She greeted me with "Well, you're really messed up inside, Honey.", which already had me pretty stressed out. Then told me I would probably need surgery to figure out exactly what was going on. She then asked me if I wanted children, and I said No. I had taken my husband with me to the appointment for moral support, and she glanced over at him, and then talked to me for 5 minutes about how many women my age could still have children, and I could definitely consider it, and that they would do everything they could to make sure I could stay viable. They could freeze my eggs if I had to do a hysterectomy, just on and on. She probably asked me directly 4-5 if I was sure I didn't want kids. Finally, I said, "Ma'am, my husband got a vasectomy over a decade ago, we are absolutely sure we don't want kids." After hubs had found me crying on the toliet, because my period was late again, he went to his doctor and said, "Hey doctor, I'm thinking about a vasectomy." The doctor gave him a pamphlet to read, and made him an appointment. The whole thing was done in a few weeks.

Anyhow, she finally referred me to a gynecological surgeon, and I was not looking forward to dealing with this again, and was just generally terrified of having surgery for the first time. I met with this woman and she was so efficient and practical. It is the longest doctor appointment I've ever had, since this surgery would be exploratory, she went over every possibility of what could happen when she was inside. She did a thorough exam, she went over all the scans that I had, and explained why she thought this needed done. Then she said she would like to put in a Mirena IUD during surgery. She said, "You're in pain half the month, and there's no reason for you to have a period if you don't want to have kids. You'll have some erratic bleeding for six months, but by a year most women have a very light or no period at all, there's no reason for you to needlessly suffer if you don't end up needing a hysterectomy."

It's interesting to me still, that one doctor was so focused on what my body could do, and another so focused on how I felt. I came out of the first appointment feeling scared and confused, and the second feeling heard and cared for. Feeling valued as a person and not a baby maker made the surgery much easier to go through, and the Mirena has been great btw. Women don't have to needlessly suffer.

@RickiTarr sigh.
First pregnancy, DVT and had to get on blood thinners.
Oh it will never happen again.
Second one, oh weird it happened again.
Informed my OB/GYN there wasn’t going to be a third one and I wanted my tubes tied ASAP.
Got the but you might change your mind lecture. Then the wait a year or two and see lecture.
Went home, husband called for an appointment, had a vasectomy a week later.
They’d have rather I risked dying than get my tubes tied.

Also don’t video unless you are in a position to get away from law enforcement as in able to run and dodge. Don’t assume a crowd standing together to video is safe. Know your exit points , have a plan. Wear a hoodie , cap, and sunglasses you can throw away after you attain a relatively safe spot. Treat it like a bank robbery and have detailed contingency plans.

It insane to me how often women are not given pain management for gynecological procedures, because many many years ago a male doctor who's never had a vagina, cervix, or uterus decided that there weren't enough nerve endings up there to hurt significantly. I think it's time to put this fallacy to bed. It most definitely does hurt, and people who have literally no experience with female equipment don't get to decide this for me. Trust me docs, you don't want to taste your own medicine on this.

CatDragon,
@CatDragon@mastodon.world avatar

@RickiTarr as soon as the say “you may experience some discomfort” I’m like, give me something for pain NOW because I’ve learned that’s the code for “this is going to hurt like hell for a time as yet to be determined”.

Okay, a little mystery also for today. After the Toxic Club, my
brother and I got a strawberry limeade at a little drive inn, and drove around this Conservation Area, but then we start seeing this fence with these signs, it's like 8 foot tall with lots of the fence totally blacked out, and these signs placed on them that say:

Saline Valley Ranch, No Hunting, No Trespassing

This fence went for miles, and miles had to be incredibly pricey to put in, it reminded me of the fence they'd have at a minimum security prison, but we didn't see cows, horses, crops, nothing but woods and hills and miles and miles of giant fence.

We try to find information about what it is, but there's basically nothing. My husband looks it up on Google Earth, and finds Little Saline Ranch, and I look it up, and it says permanently closed, and even less information is available about that. Google Earth shows lots of wooded land, a lake, and a few open fields, but we couldn't see any buildings or animals, nothing like that.

So, looking up that I find this article about mysterious happenings in the area:

https://www.cjonline.com/story/news/local/2018/10/31/hunting-ghosts-miller-county-other/9408986007

It mentions several people seeing a Bigfoot type cryptid in the area, so obviously the fence is to keep it in. My other guesses involve a government blacksite, as it isn't too far from and airforce base, or a doomsday cult, what do you all think?

She is a chewer. Loves her monster Kong , sticks , and these weird not rawhide pig sticks.
Question - boiled beef knuckles, yeah or nay? Boiling makes them softer and they were given to me by a neighbor who raises cows with organic feed.
I hear yes give her a bone and no don’t, for various reasons. Reading the same online.
