There are lots of YouTubers making videos like ‘what happened to San Francisco’ ‘what happened to Oakland’ that’s just endless poverty porn, cries for policing, and absolutely no recognition of any of the real issues of what actually happened here (housing, inequality, for example)

I see these people in my neighborhood, just driving by, scared to even get out of their cars, just shooting endless poverty porn of people who need help; never helping. Just being Ron DeSantis on a street corner.

@skinnylatte people don’t have a clue who’s out there.
Veterans, elderly, people with disabilities, caretakers who lost it all tending to a parent who’s passed, people who are self medicating because our health system is fucked.
I’ve been giving folks dog food, dollar store toiletries and socks, thrift shop coats and tarps. There aren’t enough resources there isn’t enough funding and people ignore the fact that these are real human being with feelings.

@RickiTarr my mom probably loves me on some level but has only liked me when I’m thin enough, dressed according to her standards, and doing something she finds worthwhile. My complete lack of concern in regards to “social status” and fitting in frustrates her. Half her conversations begin with “if I were you I’d“.

Good morning. I slept a long time yet I feel physically and mentally weary. I need to go out for a walk but do I want to do that in heavy rain? Probably not. I’m sure I’ll be OK once I get into my work. The cat is bored, getting into mischief, she’s fed up with being indoors but she doesn’t like the rain either. Where has my motivation gone? Are you feeling any perkier?

I almost died out there yesterday because somebody needed chicken fingers RIGHT THE HELL NOW.

This big pickup crossed two travel lanes from the left then stopped sideways in front of me when they couldn't get into the right turn lane bc other cars were in it.

Glad my habits of careful driving and paying attention on the road paid off.

I drive with the assumption that everyone else is likely to do spectacularly stupid things, and, well, someone did.

It could have been really bad. ☹️

@arisummerland it seems that the larger vehicles get the more aggressive drivers get. Had my granddaughter strapped into her car seat in back a few weeks ago, pickup truck came up behind me and started riding my fender. ( I was going a little over the limit ).
He could definitely see her as I could see him clearly.
He passed and then he slammed on his brakes. I had to steer into a skid to stay on the road. Got the plate make and model memorized. He best hope I don’t see him parked.

@Lana 1974. That was the year women in the US were finally’allowed’ to get a credit card in their own name .Credit didn’t really want to associate with women before then and insisted men co-sign any loans for them and that women pay much higher interest rates.

I've been seeing discussions lately around the YouTube fascism algorithm [not directed at me] implying that if you get those suggestions it's because that's material you have sought out.
Not true.

It's been studied and repeatedly shown--like a vehicle w/poor alignment--suggestions will drift to the right pretty quickly.
To "never" get them, you must
a) be outside targeted demographics AND
b) not look at DIY, repair, survivalism, building, cooking, sewing, politics, animal husbandry, automotive
