@RickiTarr I think ideal would be to be a ten year old boy. They seem to be as a group so carefree, curious and joyful.

22-24 were pretty great. But largely because confidence was high and so was ignorance about how hard life can be.

When I went to graduate school, I had to be revaccinated for measles. They told me that people vaccinated between 1963 and 1967 received a faulty dose and may NOT be protected. Please do what's necessary to protect yourself NOW before something bad happens.

@StillIRise1963 same. Had a titer pulled and was surprised I had no immunity to measles. Glad to have been boosted a few years back.

Bringing in the passionflower was a really great idea. Ten blooms today! Tending plants indoors in winter helps with cheerfulness. Always something to look forward to every day.

We have an unusual house, built in the 1950’s from plans in Better Homes and Garden. The original home, Four Bedrooms on a Budget is in Missouri, in the middle of the US, very different climatically and geologically than northeastern Connecticut. The stairs down are right in the middle of the floor, with a wooden fence around them, that Fish couldn’t get any purchase on as a kitten, so I wrapped them with rope, inadvertently turning the living room into a giant cat gym.

Fisher had to go to the vet today and found it traumatic so middle child set him up with a blanket and bird TV. He’s been avidly watching for two hours! 🤦‍♀️

I knitted!!! Omg I'm so excited! It's taken me about 3 or 4 hours and wow was casting off nerve-wracking! But I did it!

Does it get less painful as you get better at it? Or should I just wear a glove and a thimble?

@alexisbushnell @knitting Woohoo! Well done! It does get easier as you get on. Keep at it, and at some point, watch some knitters (either in real life) or videos to help refine technique. I didn’t think to do this and learned habits that made knitting harder than it should be and took a while to unlearn. But, also, I think style becomes kind of personal. Just this week I learned about Norwegian purling and feel like my mind is blown. So many ways to do things!

    Took a walk this morning through campus past the teaching greenhouse. It was open! for a Boxing Day Botanical Adventure.

    Will start with the .

    For @futurebird an ant plant. The green house has a big collection of ant plants, but sadly, no ants! The research specimen collection however does have a fantastic collection of army ants and their associated guests.

    Like succulents? UConn has a huge collection from South Africa. Very diverse and unusual.

    A plant bench filled with clay pots with Lithops specimens. These plants look like small stones and blend in with the ground. They also kind of look like little butts according to my kids.
