You know the drill by now. I don't like talking about Black history. Americans know Black history. I want to talk about white American history. In other words, racism, and the erasure of both positive achievements of, and injustices suffered by, non-white people. That's what people don't know.

Try this: Ask your white US friends what the statue of liberty celebrates.

Now ask your Black friends. Or French folk of any color.

@bobwyman @mekkaokereke I knew. That's why freed and escaped slaves fled across the border to Mexico. Some of them fought alongside the Mexicans against France in the Battle of Puebla on Cinco de Mayo.

THAT'S something they never talk about in Texas history or even in most Black history classes.

I learned about it in college.

A 12 percent drop in the US murder rate is wild. And I say that as someone who has been spitting stats and rolling my eyes at people who say "crime has gotten so bad..."

It hasn't been "bad" by any real metric since the late 90s and even when it was "bad" if you're middle class (and not at risk of domestic violence*) you have zero things to worry about even in 1989.

*domestic violence improved for a few decades but then stalled. But, when people fret about crime this isn't what they mean.

Just blocked someone who called me a "worthless Democrat" because I'm not planning to vote for Cornel West,RFK Jr or Trump. Nor stay home in protest.

I'm old enough to remember when racism was still legalized. When people of color were limited in employment, housing and educational opportunities.

Saw neighbors and relatives come back from Vietnam physically and mentally damaged. Or in body bags.

Most Black folks are Democrats and despise Trump.

Though in the media,all you hear about is Candace Owens,Lil Wayne,Ice Cube,50 Cent, Charlemagne Tha God and whomever pastor they can find,telling us to vote for Trump because "he helps Black people".
