@cstross I worked this potential threat for about 12+ years in the IC. We don't know when or if easy spread between humans will occur. The couple mutations necessary have been studied. These personnel were with sick poultry. There are some cases of patients only close to sick people, not birds, yet pandemic hasn't happened. Let's wait for genetic analysis before going all apocalypse. Be prepared for any type of disaster is always good advice. Be calm is too.

    This will be an important case. If SCOTUS throws out application of obstruction to Jan6, those who PLANNED to obstruct vote certification could only face misdemeanors, whereas those who got caught up, could face civil disorder charges.

    @GottaLaff Probably a useless tangent, but IMO a critical question for SCOTUS might be whether their opinion would change if the attackers had been Black. Not that it'll be asked, of course. But I think it's common sense that the entire thing and its aftermath, to include the ringleader's continuing ability to delay justice, would've been in a totally different universe if those domestic terrorists had been Black. This frustrates me greatly, you can probably tell.

    The day I've been dreading finally came. My 2011 Tucson chugged a few times and died as I was driving down the road. I was able to pull into an empty lot and wait for a tow. Of course it's the weekend. No loaners or shuttle available from the dealer, all car rentals closed. Podunk town. Took a cab home & just hope I can get a loaner Monday. I was supposed to be at a chicken wing fest!!! 🤬 😭 😩

    I finally got the verdict on my broken-down 2011 Hyundai Tucson: fuel pump is dead. Since I had no idea whether it was a major problem, I'd had the car towed to the local dealer. My rough estimate is I could've saved about $500 by getting the replacement done elsewhere. You win some, you lose some. At least with the dealer I got a loaner car & I'd have paid more than the difference if I'd rented for the duration.
