Bad idea: a box that continually scans for open wifi networks, connects to each, does a network scan for any KASA smart plugs/switches, then toggles their state.

(by default (or always?) they have no security if you're on the same network)

the most 2023-internet thing is that when you google "public domain icons" you mainly get sites which offer commercial or limited-use icons, but you get their icons that show the idea of "public domain".

lots of copyright symbols with a big NO symbol over it, available to license for limited personal use for 5.99$ a month

And you do understand that using your peripheral vision you can be aware of your surroundings while observing the scenery, right? If you cab do these things you can be aware of cars. Sorry not sorry but i don't support your right to shut your brain off and make yourself a problem to everyone around you.

@HowardTayler curious what the data says about what happened to me. I got covid within the first few weeks, not even that bad a spell all things considered, but since then the light condition that was more like a weak hold has become a much more debilitating case of urinary incontinence. My therapist said the earlier version was psychological and couldn't be "fixed" & even if i had places to go, I can't without adult diapers. NorthShore megamax stuff. Anything less is risky.

How to Leave X

Some of the best tips I've seen for transitioning to Mastodon.

Don't delete your X account; instead go Mastodon-first, meaning:

  1. Open Mastodon before X
  2. Post new content to Mastodon before X
  3. Engage replies on Mastodon before X
  4. Keep using X but as a lurker; reply less, follow less.
  5. Post teasers on X ("My thoughts on ABC are posted on Mastodon. Username in bio.")
  6. Occasionally post on X that you're now on Mastodon, otherwise your absence is less noticed.

@gamingonlinux Preferably on a website that will have stuck-up people make "graphic design is my passion" jokes because omfg am i sick of looking at squarespace templates and generic mobile scrolls. Basic html is actually very easy to copy-paste in order, and all ya need is a square with text to get the info out there, everything else is frosting. Personally, i take a basic site more seriously than a pay-to-win template site or scroll.

@garius it'd be funny to get unknowns to play young Bruce Willis and Steven Segal, given back their youth in purgatory and believing that their legacy was strong enough to withstand the late bit parts. What they don't realize is all they're known for now is the direct to streaming things where they don't actually do anything. Its an idea that, i think, gets way funnier and more compelling to the audience the less polished and big-budget it feels.

Discord servers are mostly babbling and memes when i've been in them and i want the info about my obscure piece of 1980s video technology now.
