So, having mostly moved from twitter to mastodon, one thing I've discovered that I really like is feeding-the-trolls seems quite rare? Like, on posts I'll very occasional get someone behaving twitter-like (meaning a combination of assuming the worst and then speaking as if to a mob) and... here they're generally just ignored.

The people who say workers should strike when it's less disruptive are the same people who say protestors should be limited to sidewalks at a more convenient time of day. Disruption of the status quo by the masses has always frightened the snowflakes for the same reasons. The Greta Thunbergs of the world and the UAW and WGA strikes threaten a way of life that benefits them to the detriment of everyone else. Same play, different actors.
As always, I am for the disrupters of the world. 💪

Lawns use a lot of water. Native plants use a lot less water. Many native plants are beautiful flowers. They also help bees, which are endangered and upon whom are agricultural system and ecosystem depend.

Clover lawns also use a lot less water, require much less maintenance, and help bees.

    Okay, honest question, why do people call funny posts shitposting? I think we should call news about Elon, Republicans, Fascism, Shootings ect, Shitposts, because they are actually shitty, and posts that make me laugh need a different name, because why is enjoyment shitty?     a lot of cases will not be mild or quick 🤷🏻‍♀️

    The sympathy I want to hear is “I’m so sorry you got Covid, I’m going to wear a mask more often in public spaces and try to talk to my work/school about improving indoor air quality, the more people who advocate for system shift, the sooner we decrease how many folks are risking injury and death from this preventable disease”

    I had a department head who used to get impatient with his own rules and push changes directly into production. Often at COB, and yes often on Friday.

    His impatience was a general character flaw which often resulted him in being short and harsh with everyone. It was so bad I had people ask me to go to him for their questions as I wasn't afraid of his moods.

    Needless to say I enjoyed the shit shows created by his quick and dirty production releases.

    There just isn't that much actual news.

    I get my news through 2 services where there are a lot of headlines listed. I would say 85% are not about things that actually happened, just suppositions.

    News publishers have space to fill and if garbage is all they can find then garbage is what they will put there.

    If they don't fill that space with Musk, they will fill it with generation wars, or the exciting new discovery that snacking sabotages weight loss.

    Yep, sometimes people are overly sensitive on Mastodon, and Yep, it can be more serious here sometimes too, BUT I in no way miss the bullying and harassment of anyone left of center, LGBTQ, women, people of color, anyone that was decided to be too "Woke". I don't miss how difficult it was to get rid of people who had blatantly broke the rules. I don't miss clique gangs who would randomly decided to destroy someone else's account because of pettiness. I most definitely don't miss actual fucking Nazis.

    If people seem overly sensitive and serious, remember it's usually because they found a safer place to be themselves and they really really want to keep it that way. We have the opportunity to build, and maintain great things here. So, if you want more funny, make more funny, make whatever you want, let's just keep each other safe.

    I think 98.5% of Masto Drama can be avoided by simply not responding to people or filtering them.

    Musk has a history of making extreme statements to manipulate crypto and stock prices.

    Musk also has a pattern of making and reversing unpopular decisions about X/Twitter within 1-2 days.

    His latest announcement about charging for X/Twitter may be a manipulative way to get attention for X/Twitter.

    Why not just tell them you are concerned about pandemic deaths going up and then ask them if the lecture can be done remotely?

    You can even send them a URL for this feed which updates on Friday and states how many Americans were killed by the pandemic in the last week.

    I would love to not care that you don't care about getting . I would love for this to be something you can opt into or out of, like some kind of drug. That's not how viruses play, though. When you're up, you always spread it. More importantly, you spread it before you start showing symptoms. You spread it when symptoms never show up. You force other people out of spaces or into protective gear they don't really want to be wearing because you're willing to be a literal walking biohazard

    I want to address something I've been thinking about recently. As far as Religion, Afterlife, ect, I'm solidly in the "I don't know" camp, and I'm fine with that. I think any Religion, Religious Institution, or Religious Leader who has used spiritual beliefs to oppress, control, manipulate, or financially gain from other people should be both questioned and mocked, and I have no problem doing it, or with other people doing it.

    The issue I run into on Mastodon is Aggressive Atheism. I have no issue with atheism at all, but I do have a problem if it's used to attack other people for their personal spiritual beliefs. If someone is making a comment about something they believe personally, and they aren't hurting anyone with it, jumping into the comments to say "PROVE GOD IS REAL" is just as annoying and pointless as a couple Religious people knocking on your door, and telling you, you must accept their Lord. This is simply a matter of respecting other people.
