This is yet another insanely packed issue.
From the 132 pages in total, I have over 60 of them that I'd like to post! 😅
So I'll try to pick some great stuff and save the rest for another day.
First up is the preview for Final Fantasy 8 on PSone from GamesMaster 80 - April 1999 (UK)
@OutofPrintArchive apparently that's a very common reaction for people who played FF7 first. Once they experienced FF7, FF8 feels like a disappointment that never measured up like grandma's cooking. I also love FF9. It is the most heart wrenching for me.
@stefan i finally binged it. Right off the bat, it already moves me that they have grown (David's voice!). There are some actual jeopardy and horror in a lot of episodes! Even though the plot felt a bit shoehorned in with barely any hint in previous seasons, it still really tugs at the heartstrings and a great send off.
That said, I don't think anything will ever hit me as hard as the Twig's episode in season 2.
Our corporate landlord had been tearing down our tenant association posters posted on our own doors, so as a work around, I decided to ask a neighbour for their rusty bike that they no longer use, and strapped boards with tenant organising details to it, hugely increasing visibility. I think they gave up tearing down our posters after that. #redflagsforrenters#toronto#rentcontrol#housingcrisis#torontohousingcrisis
"When it was necessary, beneficial, and popular, Poland was for Ukrainians: helping, hugging Zelensky, accepting refugees, and giving the last of its weapons to Ukraine. When every voter directly votes for themselves and their interests before the election, it will be Poland for the Poles," Maria said.
Apparently I got reported today for using the #Alt4me tag and not being blind. I was told by multiple people on Mastodon that if I didn't have the energy to do alt text for every image I could use this tag and someone would do it for me.
Instead I got reported to my instance owner. You all need to make up your fucking minds what is acceptable and what isn't if you want people to stay on mastodon. As it stands, I don't feel comfortable posting images anymore because if I don't have the energy to write alt text then I get shamed, if I used #Alt4Me I get reported
You people make it so tiring that for someone like me with ADHD and Executive Dysfunction it is much easier to just not use Mastodon to post any images!!!!
I'd also like to touch on how people always shame others with "invisible" illnesses. I cannot escape it. Just because I am sighted does not mean I am not disabled in some ways. But people can't see ADHD and executive dysfunction, so I just get their personal diagnosis of 'LAZY'.
I can tell why artists aren't flocking here in droves.
I don't know what I am going to do going forward but I feel pretty fucking uncomfortable posting any images to Mastodon now lest I be shamed or reported or fediblocked because someone didn't like whatever about my posts.
Thanks for that.
Boosts highly encouraged I think everyone should see this.
@Konaburd I add #alt4you to uncaptioned posts sometimes because I find it more productive than being all righteous and demonising people for it. It's shallow minded to think #alttext are only for visually impaired and not consider it also benefits neurodivergents, e.g. contexts. Also people who don't have the time for it, like people reporting from the warzone or just life in general. #alttext is meant for helping each other. Those who gave you a hard time are missing the point. I'm sorry.
@Konaburd that "only visually impaired could use #alt4me " complaint confuses me. Why would a visually impaired person post an uncaptioned image to begin with? They would need #alttext to know what they're posting in the first place, right? It should be a rule that no one should judge #alt4me posts.
I got accused on Instagram of being a copycat of another artist that does wholesome comics that happen to have dog and frog characters and let me tell you, it ruined my day
@heyheymomo I'm so sorry you're accused of that. They're popular animals, and there are so many artists online, there are bound to be similarities in one way or the other. It's how you convey your messages and your style that makes it uniquely yours. Those comments are so ignorant.
@timkmak thank you so much for your reporting, Tim! The stories you and your team writes are outstanding and very human. Glad you're taking care of yourself, too! Hang in there and stay safe both physically and mentally!
I keep reading about this whole #unity drama because I just cannot believe how anyone would think it's a good idea to essentially punish and discourage #gamedevs for building successful games. And lots of weird shit has happened in recent years.
In a daily briefing, Kremlin
spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a journalist from the French news agency AFP that she could not ask him a question about Russian General Sergey Surovikin. The Telegram channel You Listened to Mayak reported that the journalist said the following:
Yesterday, Sergey Shoigu did not respond to a journalist's question about a possible investigation into General Surovikin. Can I ask you that question?
