“What do we do about unsustainable perpetual growth, increasing inequality, and declining job opportunities from automation."

We are not affiliated with Dick but support his Fair Go movement to give people a chance - that means lowering the number of people we bring here to sensible numbers, ensuring the extremely wealthy pay tax and eliminating political donations.

Indeed, and then when we also factor in PeakOil also, there are bound to be many things that are going to be changing, in terms of production and consumption.

Degrowth is inevitable. We need to do it in a way that does not create extreme suffering, divisiveness and conflicts, which is the current modus operandi for some wealthy entities.

Some days my ADHD brain will let me do literally anything except what I'm supposed to be doing. I work around this using a hack I call Procrasti-work.

First, I set myself one task I must complete that day. Then I give myself permission to put that task aside and work on something else, as long as that something really does need to be done.

Eg If I set myself a blog-writing task, I can be pretty sure I'll do a bunch of housework and cook a decent meal.

    (1/2)

    dsfgs,

    @strypey
Sometimes listing lost of small tasks can be nice just for a change of pace; it's not even necessarily ADHD-related, though might help for it.

When the big epic task gets tiesome, one can do few small tasks to take the edge off, so to speak.

    Just list everything, we say.

Sometimes just breaking big things down into small things can make things better.

I get the feeling some people are forgetting who Putin is...

He is ex-KGB. He never stopped being one. He also never stopped considering the entire USSR as Russian by right.

His intent since the fall of the USSR, is and always has been to reclaim all the territory that broke away AND to expand it into the largest empire Russia has ever controlled.

Not because he cares about the people or the actual 'state', but because he wants to be remembered as the guy who did it.

The problem with "getting a WWII history book" is it would show that the and funded and gave rise to the nazi regime back then to mine Europe and to be a bulwark against , and they were able to do it the same thing again in Ukraine.

Followed by SchnapsChat, and TellMeGram, and a couple more Chinese companies you haven't heard of. At 10th place on the list (of companies, way further down the list of brands), is Titter (sorry xxx.com). I didn't even see Robbit.

Alice and Bob follow each other on InstaGrope. Alice, being more of an early adopter, signs up for Chains, and convinces Bob to do the same. Then Chains turns on AP federation. Alice realises she can still follow and talk to all the same people on Chains from other fediverse servers, and moves to one.

Whilst Europe is setting records in fossil-fueled climate disaster evacuations and heat levels,
Greta Thunberg was sentenced today to a fine of 1500 crowns plus being ordered to pay 1000 crowns to the "Fund for Victims of Crime" for "disobeying police order" (literal direct translation, "not-hearing-ness against the order-power" :-D) while on June 19 alongside other habitat heroes blockading the fossil-fuels harbor in Malmö, southernmost Sweden.

Greta agreed to having blockaded and stated that it should not be considered a crime, referencing the law for defense of self or others, telling the court that "I believe that we are in an emergency situation within the definition of the law. There is a crisis that threatens lives, health and property. Our life-sustaining systems are collapsing", which is all very obvious but the courts can not accept such facts.
The one non-amateur of the judges in the District Court declared that "The circumstances regarding the climate crisis are not included in the Penal Code's 'emergency'".
That judge asked if Greta had any questions, Greta replied "Many questions. But none suitable here".
