It's going to be Vance, and that is huge, huge trouble. He's young, intelligent, well-spoken, and evil through and through. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-05-02/trump-auditions-vp-picks-before-wealthy-donors-in-palm-beach

Work in progress: a set of three olive utensils. This is all very hard scrap wood that's been hanging around for a year so there are definitely power tools involved. Last step is my favorite: a very close rubdown with cabinet scrapers, which leave a super-smooth tool-finished piece that can be oiled without any sanding at all because the scraper cuts the fibers instead of tearing them. #woodworking #carving #spoons #wip

I guess I like the smell of wood better." https://alinpanaitiu.com/blog/woodworking-escape-from-software-absurdity/

My side projects as I press play on yet another YouTube video about coffee.

Frustrated person saying “Well, we’re waiting!”

kentbrew,
@kentbrew@xoxo.zone avatar

@axxl we had a disaster: coffee berry border beetles, which are tiny evil bugs that destroy your crop from the inside out. If you miss even one infested bean you wind up with a skunked batch of coffee. We're spraying, cleaning, and trying to do all the right things this year but it is super hard.

I need some help from my Mastodon html & experts.
I'm trying to download the transcript for 4-22-2024.
It gives me an index
https://pdfs.nycourts.gov/PeopleVs.DTrump-71543/transcripts/4-22-2024/

At the top "NEXT" starts with 00001.html & is incrementally increased. https://pdfs.nycourts.gov/PeopleVs.DTrump-71543/transcripts/4-22-2024/00001.html
There are 121 pages of individual images in the middle of a page. It's NOT a single long PDF document.

  1. How do i download them all at once?
  2. How do I convert the images to a searchable PDF?

@spocko huh, interesting, these are individual image files (presented as raw data:URIs in the HTML source) and not PDFs. It's almost like they wanted to make it as hard as possible to do what you want to do.

the top 5 hits in the year I finished (Abi '96!) were:

  1. "Lemon Tree" by Fool's Garden 🍋❤️

  2. "Insomnia" by Faithless ❓🤔

  3. "Macarena" by Los Del Rio 🎶💃❤️

  4. "Children" by Robert Miles ❓🤔

  5. "Killing Me Softly" by Fugees 😑

I even looked up the Miles & Faithless songs. They still ring no bells. Fugees gets a 😑 bc it got overplayed for a decade, which soured me in it forever & ever & ever.

We do the Macarena at sometimes. Still a banger. 😁

@courtcan if you're ever at a gathering of the kind of nerds who know how to do the canonical dance to REM's song "Stand" but you don't, the Macarena works just fine. Also you will irretrievably piss off some of said nerds. :awesome:

kentbrew,

kentbrew,
@kentbrew@xoxo.zone avatar

@xian we have a pair of nearly-decade-old Fiat 500Es, which are 87-mile cars per EPA estimates. Once we were out in Scotts Valley with 30 miles left on battery ... but by the twin miracles of Vickie's driving and regenerative braking we made it home to our driveway before the car entered Turtle Mode. Which is exactly what it sounds like: when you have less than two miles left, the display shows a bright red turtle and the car won't go faster than walking speed.

I'm considering changing my name. I already planned to change my middle name because it feels more femme than I'm comfortable with but I had been thinking I was mostly okay with my first name because at least in the US no one reads it in particularly gendered way (and in most places where my name does read in a gendered way, it's read as masculine).

kentbrew,
@kentbrew@xoxo.zone avatar

@spideyj avoid Kent. Peak year for this name was was 1955, the height of the Lorrilard cigarette company's marketing campaign for Kents, which featured the "micronite" filter. Some years later it was revealed that the filters were made of asbestos. (And yep, my parents both smoked 'em.)
