The orangutan's trial has resumed and once again I'm glued to the blow-by-blow reporting by @GottaLaff. With court now in recess for lunch, it's time to post.

Taken a few weeks ago, here is a picture of one of the courtrooms at the James R. Browning Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. Yes, this place is as serious as it appears here.

Well, I got my first white supremacist reply from the fediverse after posting an article about Elon from Flipboard.

I reported and blocked the account. I also looked at the instance admin's account and it's clear he's also a white supremacist. So that instance will be blocked on flipboard.com and flipboard.social as well as shared with other instance admins as a problematic instance for them to take action if they also deem appropriate. Took all of 2 minutes to help make the fediverse a bit better for everyone.

And the best thing is that anyone in the fediverse can do this too. Decentralized moderation FTW.

Listen, I get it if you hate Biden. I’ve hated him probably longer and more and for more reasons. But if you think they are all the same and your vote doesn’t matter, vote anyway for him & Dems party because the most vulnerable members of the US feel he gives them the best chance. Do it for them. Vote, and be loud and complain to all your reps and to the party, and hold them accountable. Stop the praise. It’s ghoulish at this point. Just vote, be loud and demand better from them the whole way.

It's nice and warm out, and the 2 new baby goats are really healthy, so they got to go out and meet their herdmates. (Their herdmates were EXTREMELY interested in meeting them, hilariously, especially the llama)

The 2 babies were sleeping snuggled up next to this wall, and the livestock guardian dog came and laid down next to them. He is SUCH a good goat-mommy! He loves the new babies every year.

It may be that the college students, who learned in elementary school that the government wouldn't keep them safe from shooters or keep them safe from a pandemic or hand them a livable climate, also learned that they keep each other safe, and that no change is scarier than change. May clarity and courage be contagious.

I am so sad to hear that we have lost Vernor Vinge, whose work was a tremendous inspiration to me. I once had the pleasure of interviewing him, and he was quite surprised when I told him that his characters in Rainbows End were a highlight.
