Bazzite isn't an exact clone of SteamOS 3, but its functionality is virtually identical to Valve's operating system. On the surface, Bazzite features an identical desktop experience to SteamOS 3. Thanks to the integration of KDE Plasma — a customizable Linux desktop environment, and Valve's KDE themes from SteamOS, Bazzite...

From the video description: In HW News this week, we start with a discussion about Linus Sebastian's recent reply to our commentary about Linus Tech Tips' issues with accuracy, data, corrections, ethics, and conflicts. We are baffled and disappointed by the hastily, angrily-written, and at times inaccurate statement posted.
Speaking to the Dungeons & Dragons YouTube channel, Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke admitted that the developers feared some low scores for Baldur's Gate 3 due to potential bugs encountered by reviewers. This explains why review codes were only sent a handful of days before the PC launch....
Despite being Bethesda biggest launch, interest in Starfield has tailed off somewhat now.
hendric, (edited ) Keyboard issue with No Man's Sky on Linux?
Has anyone playing on Linux tried to use the Text Formatting Guide?
https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/qv6gy7/comprehensive_text_style_formatting_guide/
When I try to do it on Linux, every time I type < it gets replaced with >. So I can't do symbols or colors etc. I tested on my desktop Xubuntu (fails), steam deck (works fine using virtual keyboard), and windows 10 pc (works fine).
I am using a standard generic 105 key keyboard, the < key works elsewhere.

glassbottommeg, (edited ) fuckin Roll7 just died https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2024/05/olliolli-kerbal-space-program-teams-shut-down-by-gta-publisher #GamingNews #GameDev
EDIT: Fuck, this is also Kerbel Space Program 2 toast. Didn't realize Intercept was the new team that was on that.
raptor85, @jannem @glassbottommeg skylines 2 was horrifyingly bad, no way that was just a simple multithreading fix away from working, that thing was chopping between 5-40fps on my 4090+5950x w/ 128 gigs of ram even put down to 1080p... unity's performance IS pretty garbage but not THAT garbage, paradox/colossal rushed it out the door unfinished is all, i mean it doesn't even have actual simulation going on, none of the stats actually work.
glassbottommeg, @raptor85 @jannem Yep, this. You could totally make Skylines 2 with Unity. I mean I ditched it, but that's due to future planning - right now, sure.
They just... uh... did not. Or I mean maybe they would have on a longer timeline, but they shipped it before putting in that last year of polishing and tightening.
Nvidia’s leaked roadmap suggests it’ll break its usual two year release cadence and release the RTX 5000 series in 2025, not 2024 as was anticipated.
If reception to Baldur’s Gate says anything, it’s that people hate microtransactions in their AAA games.
Unfortunately you also have to play as Elon Musk or Mark Zuckerberg.
I just saw a Steam ad about Diablo IV....
Rather than have multiple threads and review links I Figured Id start a megathread to pin to the top for the release of Starfield...

Todd Howard agrees that it was a bit of a pain to get right, as he said in a recent interview with the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. "[Space combat] was way harder than we thought … We see a lot of space games where you're gonna have like, derelict ships or other things to fly around, just to get a sense of motion,...
You take the brutalist, mechanical efficiency of Factorio, combine it with the glorious destruction of Teardown, and add maybe a hint of comedy and catastrophic glee from Kerbal Space Program, and you get Abriss, an amazing new building game just launched on Steam. With high levels of detail, individually modelled bricks,...
Newegg Commerce, Inc., a global e-commerce leader for technology products, today announced the launch of Newegg's GPU Trade-In Program, allowing customers to trade in an eligible GPU device and receive a trade-in value credit toward the purchase of a new qualifying graphics card also known as a graphics processing unit (GPU)....

gamingonlinux, Epic Games launch 'First Run' and 'Now On Epic' with 100% revenue for devs https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/10/epic-games-launch-first-run-and-now-on-epic-with-100-revenue-for-devs/

Its so obvious what they're trying to do. This isn't about devs at all and more of harming their superior competitors. This would have been great if the exclusive clause wasn't there. Why would any indie try to release on Epic. Epic is only useful for the triple A games they make deals for to lock out Steam. No one is there for smaller games, they would be better off publishing to an audience that actually exists like on Steam and even Itch which is amazing for indies.

On somewhat unreletad note: they gave QUBE for free, yes! it was on my wishlist for a while. This free game giveaway fells really unsustainable tough. I guess thanks for fortnite players.
glassbottommeg, (edited ) Final Profit is maybe the best shop RPG I've ever played: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1705140/Final_Profit_A_Shop_RPG/
Has a slow start. Give it a minute. Before long you're hard selling grandmas to buy hats they don't need, concerning their nurses by selling them too much coffee, addicting said nurses to the coffee as WELL so they become your best customer, and that's just the first town! Also, inter-dimensional horse space. It gets weird.
(also! Narrative it's about the evils of Capitalism, and about how engaging with it to destroy it often irrevocably poisons you, etc etc, very cool stuff, and told with humor! It's actually funny!)
Also! Where most shop RPGs wed you to a bland RNG dungeon or whatever, the side stuff here feels more like the world exploration of FF5 or FF6. No combat. Just exploring around and talking to people and finding cool stuff, and then BUSINESS. Even the actual selling starts to be background in favor of you focusing on empire building. It's seriously so cool!
arsenic, @glassbottommeg Interesting! Thanks for the rec. Just added it to my wishlist thanks to your post. My best regards.
DeveloperDamien, @glassbottommeg @RethinkJeff Yeah, I use MV and it allows the use of Java plugins where before it was Ruby, so there's been some extra wild stuff people have done with the engine the past few years
atocci, I've just discovered that my monitor of the last 2 years (HP X27q) supports HDR 400. Not great, but an improvement over SDR nonetheless, I'd say. Only problem is, when I enable it, the monitor begins to emit a very high pitch whining noise. It's incredibly quiet, so quiet I didn't notice it for a few days. But now that I know it's there, it's definitely there and I can't go back to not hearing it. What in the world is going on with the HDR setting?
swayevenly, Could be a fan kicking in. My 2 hdr monitors have fans with one being much louder than the other.
Bandicoot_Academic, Not really. HDR probably causes the backlight to operate at a much higher brightness with higher power draw.
