It searches for the patterns @user, user@host.tld and host.tld/@user in the screen name, description, location and URL field. It displays them to you in the correct format for easy copying as well as a CSV download that can be imported to #Mastodon.
And #Fedifinder is back. The API wasn't turned off for good, but they removed my app from my project and as a result I lost access to v2.

Ich hab die Flamewars damals eher wie Sport oder einen eskalierenden Debattierclub auf Koffein wahrgenommen. Würde ich heute wahrscheinlich auch anders mit umgehen. @akustikkoppler
Reading up on ActivityPub and investigating what'd be involved in building a simple single-user Fediverse compatible blog thing (probably in Go). It's not looking like a terribly complicated project.
@robey I was thinking a bit more of the federation/server side rather than the client interface side -- something a little bit fancier than a staticly generated blog so that I can host my content in a way that can be followed by folks in the fediverse.
I think you can't be purely static because ActivityPub followers will want you to respond to follow messages and send messages when you generate new posts, replies, etc (I don't think they'll fall back to polling).
@swetland yeah i suppose that's more like a listserv: responding to subscribe requests and bounces, but otherwise just broadcasting content as it arrives

Wenn ihr erlaubt, würde ich mal kurz erzählen, was mir vor einigen Jahren den Einstieg um einiges erleichtert hat. 😉
Eine ausgefüllte Bio in eurem Profil erleichtert die Suche nach interessante Kontakte ungemein. Wenn ihr euch in eurem Profil kurz beschreibt und dieses auch mit euren Interessen füllt, dann wissen andere #Fedinauten gleich wer ihr seid und folgen euch schneller.
Es ist ebenfalls von Vorteil einen kurzen #neuhier Beitrag zu erstellen, in dem ihr euch und eure Interessen vorstellt. Das erhöht eure Sichtbarkeit und andere User können euch wegen der vorgestellten Interessen schneller finden.
Die Nutzung von #Hashtags erleichtert das Leben in der Fediverse ungemein. Wenn ihr diese in eure Beiträge nutzt, werden diese Beiträge von anderen Fedinauten leichter gefunden, die gleichen Interessen- oder Themenschwerpunkte haben. Ebenfalls kann man nach Hashtags suchen und diese speichern. Die so gespeicherten Hashtags füllen dann sehr schnell eure Timeline mit interessanten Beiträgen.
Ich hatte damals bei meinem Start echt Schwierigkeiten zu verstehen, was dieses Fediverse genau ist. Viele von euch, wenn nicht sogar die meisten, werden sich ein Konto bei Mastodon erstellt haben. Sehr schön!
Allerdings ist #Mastodon nicht das Fediverse, es ist ein Teil davon. Die Fediverse besteht aus ganz vielen und unterschiedlichen Diensten. So gibt es neben #Mastodon zum Beispiel auch noch #Friendica (bei dem ich bin), #Misskey, #Pleroma, #Peertube, #Pixelfed und noch viele andere.
Ein wichtiger Punkt ist auch noch die Wahl der Instanz. Egal ob ihr euch für Mastodon, Friendica oder einen anderen Dienst entschieden habt. Es gibt seeeeehr große Instanzen wie chaos.social oder mastodon.social die in der Tat tausende registrierte User haben. Aus Gründen der Performance und der Dezentralität wäre es vielleicht gut sich eine Instanz zu suchen, die nicht so riesig ist. Es gibt sehr viele kleinere Instanzen, deren User sich dort aufgrund der Themenschwerpunkte oder der Nähe zum Wohnort registriert haben.

What software do people recommend I host if I want to make my own fediverse activity pub server? I was thinking to host pleroma but I would like to get other peoples recommendations.
The big takeaway is that the #FediVerse likes #Firefox a lot more than the statistics gathering folks find. I think that speaks to FediVerse users being more aware of tracking, privacy and other issues.
With #Chrome & #Safari being 2 and 3 I think this speaks to users that trust what comes with their system.
#Vivali being last suggests their security / privacy message isn't as well known, or possibly believed.
If you have an independently hosted WordPress blog, you can turn it into a Fediverse server by installing the WordPress ActivityPub plugin. This means people can follow your blog from Mastodon etc.
Here's how to do it:
Go to your WordPress dashboard's Plugins section, click "add new" and search for "ActivityPub" . Click "install now" on the plugin, and when it has finished installing, click "activate".
On the WordPress dashboard, go to the "Users" section. Click on your username and scroll to the bottom to find your Fediverse address. Share this address with whoever wants to follow your blog on Mastodon etc.
To alter the plugin's settings, on your WordPress dashboard go to Settings > ActivityPub
If you want to switch off or remove the plugin, go to "plugins", then "deactivate" or "delete".
NOTE: This plugin only works with independently hosted WordPress sites. It doesn't work with free accounts on WordPress.com.

@feditips@pfefferle@mikka I have been trying to get this plugin to work on my blog since November. Never could get it to work, so I've been using Micro.blog. Really wish I could make this happen though since Wordpress has more functionality. I'm thinking it's my blog host. Any suggestions on hosts where I can just start fresh and this works well out of the box?
It's got slightly different takes on many issues, but hopefully seeing a different perspective will give you a fuller understanding of how Mastodon works.
For those worried about the influx of new people to #mastodon - don't. (a) with the tools at your fingers you can taylor your experience, and (b) the #fediverse seems to be good at self-balancing... It might take a while, but things will settle down in a while...
That's what I like about things here...you have control over the immediate things you want, and the network is quite robust in the long term...
So, I was curious about #misskey. I was hoping for something with a better UI than Mastodon, and it does appear that the UI is nicer. However, digging deeper I found that it doesn't quite have some of the things that I'd like to see - like instance blocking. And I don't quite like the way word / user blocking is implemented. Oh well, maybe in the future it will get there.
I can't wait for the new #mastodon users to realize they can follow profiles on #pixelfed or #funkwhale or other #fediverse sites right from #mastodon... No need to go to other sites to follow people...
Hmmm... I was just wondering something... Is there a way to tell which instances have an instance #blocked? IE, if I was thinking about moving to a new #mastodon instance, I would be interested in knowing this info.
I'm not saying the blocking instances should be known - maybe just a "blocked by" count. for example: "Blocked by 1200 / 1400 known instances" vs "blocked by 30 / 1400" instances... I'd likely sign up for the instance with only 30 blocks so I'd be able to chat with more people.

Hab ein bisschen nachgedacht und möglicherweise ist das sogar mit #activitypub zu machen.
So ein bisschen "back to the roots" mäßig, zurück in Richtung TS3. Wobei natürlich die Frage wäre wie viele Leute bereit wären ihren eigenen Server zu hosten wenn Dinge wie #Discord existieren
Leider ist an Vielen vorbei gegangen das auch am offene Jabber Netzwerk weiter gearbeitet wurde und es inzwischen recht modern ist und sich vor anderen Optionen wie Matrix oder Signal nicht verstecken muss.
