This is who cops are. This is who the State is.

This isn't some anomalous occurrence due to the happenstance of a protest. They are like this 24/7/365, lying, cheating, brutalizing, doing everything they can to stay in power, and that's why they must be dismantled.

There is a better future ahead. If their rule was just, they wouldn't have to expend so much effort to maintain it.

Hold to hope! We will take back our planet.

I'm only about 60 pages into this next book, but I'd dare say this is also probably required reading for... everyone.

After so many books about the subjugation and weakness of his ancestors (even from the most seemingly progressive sources), my partner was extremely excited to find this and we've been really enjoying discussing it. It doesn't sugarcoat the atrocities of the imperial colonists, but it also doesn't downplay the very real power held within Indigenous nations in North America throughout the entire period of "conquest". This is a side of our history I've never read, and I'd guess most of you are in the same boat.

"Indigeneity is something that actually provides #wellness to us. It's a wellness factor.”

Eryn Braley & Jorden Hendry work to #decolonize healthcare in British Columbia. In a webinar they explain their approaches to tackling systemic #colonialism & #racism within the #healthcare system.

They challenge mainstream narratives that frame #Indigenous identity as a risk factor for poor health instead of putting focus on colonization as the root cause of systemic inequity.

First Nations and Indigenous activists will often use the hashtag in their online advocacy, but what exactly do they mean by decolonization? As the far right is attacking decolonization, e.g. Rufo and Musk, here's a free resource: Whose Land Is It Anyway? A Manual for Decolonization.

"We are pleased to announce the publication of Whose Land Is It Anyway? A Manual for Decolonization; inspired by a 2016 speaking tour by Arthur Manuel, less than a year before his untimely passing in January 2017. The book contains two essays from Manuel, described as the Nelson Mandela of Canada, and essays from renowned Indigenous writers Taiaiake Alfred, Glen Coulthard, Russell Diabo, Beverly Jacobs, Melina Laboucan-Massimo, Kanahus Manuel, Jeffrey McNeil-Seymour, Pamela Palmater, Shiri Pasternak, Nicole Schabus, Senator Murray Sinclair, and Sharon Venne. FPSE is honoured to support this publication.

Part 05/50: Cahokia, a massive Native city, was built in 700-800CE in what is now southern Illinois. The Cahokians were mound builders, erecting a 5sq mile city. Home to 20-30,000 people, it's centered on families farming corn, squash, & sunflowers. By comparison, London's pop. was 15,000 by 1100CE. The largest building was Monk’s Mound, reaching 100ft high. Cahokia lasted until 1400 when it was abandoned

True Story Part Two continues to educate audiences about the often-troubled past Indigenous people have experienced with colonial powers in Canada.

From the creation of the Indian Act through the residential school and sixties scoop eras, to the White Paper and the statement of regret from a Catholic pope, True Story doesn’t shy away from asking the question, is reconciliation even possible?
