Shot in the dark here: did you, or anyone you know, work at the #Harvard Office of Information Technology (#OIT) circa 1997-98, AKA When Everyone Quit At Once over the summer? (Before or after the quitting is fine.)
If so... I have some questions which you are probably no longer legally enjoined from answering! 🤣
#Harvard Law Review voted to censor what would have been its first blog by a Palestinian scholar—specifically, an editor said, because people “might oppose or be offended by it.”
#Harvard is giving a free, online, intro-to-cybersecurity class, starting TODAY. It's a live class, and it's for technical and non-technical folks, all levels. Sign up here:

A Racist #Harvard Scientist Commissioned Photos of Enslaved People. One Possible Descendant Wants to Reclaim Their Story.
The images are among the oldest known #photographs of enslaved people in America.
Tamara Lanier’s fight to gain control of them shows there is no clear system in place to repatriate remains of captive Africans or objects associated with them.
Our oligarchs are so rich they don’t need to hire assassins to take care of the pesky journalists who cover their crimes, like they do in less wealthy countries.
They just obliterate the truth tellers and fact checkers with money.
Claudine Gay is the best administrator I’ve met at #Harvard (where I’ve been a prof for 10+ years). Every time I saw her speak or act, she was exceptionally well prepared. She articulated her vision clearly and then acted with integrity. She was efficient. I saw her in action when she was the dean of Social Sciences and when she was the dean of FAS (including a contentious situation where other Harvard leaders kept vacillating). Harvard lost a rare leader who could inspire and get things done.
Bill Ackman's wife, academic celebrity Neri Oxman, plagiarized in her dissertation. #Ackman just used plagiarism as a reason to push #ClaudineGay out at #Harvard. #BillAckman
"The plagiarism allegations came not from [Claudine Gay's] academic peers but her political foes... a conservative activist who helped orchestrate the effort celebrated her departure as a win in his campaign against elite institutions of higher education. On X, formerly Twitter, he wrote 'SCALPED,' as if Gay was a trophy of violence, invoking a gruesome practice taken up by white colonists who sought to eradicate Native Americans."
@RyunoKi just reminded me of this piece I wrote two years ago. It seems rather timely what with the news about Harvard and Meta, and, beyond tech, Cop28, etc.

Federal court judges expressed skepticism that Trump was immune from prosecution on charges of plotting to overturn the 2020 election.
" Former Harvard President Claudine Gay said she received emailed death threats and was called the 'N-word' countless times prior to resigning after her congressional testimony on antisemitism and plagiarism allegations."
Claudine Gay Always Knew She’d Have a Totally Nasty, Shitty Time As President of #Harvard
"“So why did Gay take the job in the first place if she knew that it would be a stressful, distressful, & challenging one where she was sure to encounter the worst side of human nature?” Well, because it was about time. Like me, like many of us #Black#women, she wasn’t going to give up that opportunity because of fear.
I have to say, having an unknown piece of electronics begin smoking aggressively is a damn effective way to end an otherwise lovely chat between Randall Munroe and @pluralistic. Gotta remember that one for the next time I want to get out of a meeting.
Lovely that you and Randall could chat with us today @pluralistic (and @Zittrain as MC plus @lessig and I think @schneier were there too? Did I miss anybody on here who attended?) #harvard
