I guess. Have a primary account @themadcodger but looking to try out . I like the UX/UI and discord/slack like reactions over here, and will probably make this the primary as soon as a good mobile app gets developed. I've tried it as a PWA and it's better than some, but not my favorite.

At any rate, I'm just a guy in the that likes going on adventures and , , and . I'm also into Games and , specifically . Online, I try to keep up on and local/national without being overwhelmed or depressed... which is not easy to do.

I've got a black named Nef, and sometimes find time for and , though not as much anymore.

👩‍🦼 Travelling with disabilities: I have to plan for everything, and yet still manage to find the spontaneous

I wrote a very personal piece about travelling abroad while disabled:

"There are just some things that cannot be organised, but instead taken in your stride."

The Greek government has announced a $15.4 million project to make its beaches more accessible. The country's tourism minister, Vassilis Kikilias, described equal access to the sea as an "inalienable human right" when he announced the program. Its centrepiece is a solar-powered ramp with a sliding chair that can move beach-goers into the water and can be independently operated by wheelchair users.

I haven't taken the for a while, but am on email list for as a customer. They're offering a 15% discount on business class in the Quebec City--Windsor (corridor -- Montreal, Kingston, Toronto, etc.). If you want a real treat, try business class at least once -- like a half day at the spa. Choice of meals, good food, lots of wine, wider seats, wifi included. If you collect points, they accumulate fairly quickly and never expire.

Staying at a cute B&B tonight that was featured on a Rachel and Jun episode a while back. There’s a cat. I was able to pet the kitty but kitty wasn’t super stoked about it.

Then later I found the thing passed out on top of the water dispenser.

Same cat absolutely passed out half falling off of the water dispenser inside

“Portree”

Portree is the largest town on the Isle of Skye in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland.

Built around the harbour are a famous range of brightly painted buildings featured in a few movies, like the romantic comedy Made of Honor.

What an amazing long weekend in Hong Kong. It’s a truly beautiful place, escape the city and get up into the trails for some wonderful scenery, or find time by the sea. It’s just awesome. My third visit, maybe my last, but so many memories!

Kevan, to programming

Early in 2023, I stood up an instance off my main domain to check out Mastodon and see if the rumors were true: did it really feel like early Twitter and the short lived ADN?

The answer is yes, it most certainly does, so I while I wanted to continue to engage and meet people,my domain kinda sucked and I never gave a proper .

Now I want to check out Calckey!

My name is Kevan and I'm kind of from all over the US, but I've been in since 2007.

I moved here for college and never left. I came to study and with the idea I'd and perform on .

None of those things panned out: I wound up with a degree in and and found my way into tech with (, ) and .

I thought for a long time I'd wind up in , but my stint running at BallotReady during the 2020 election—while the thing I'm most proud of professionally—broke me of that fantasy.

I'm current the VP of Product for a commerce focused . Fortunately, I work from home because this is loud AF.

, , , listening to on , reading and writing on fancy paper with a (mostly and ) are my hobbies. And I try to spend as much of my time with Toby, my (is a thing or do you all just use ?) as I can.

I live in the US. I'll be visiting the UK this summer. What do I need to know/do, technologically-speaking?

I know the plugs are different. Phone service? WiFi standards? Uh...keyboard layouts should be OK.

What have I not even thought to ask?

A beautiful pink flower blooming in the sandveld of Zimbabwe. Thanks to the online community, it seems to be an Ammocharis, from a small genus from Sub-Saharan African. It grows as an above-ground buld, preferring seasonally wet, hot, sandy soils and full sun.
