Edit: @neckspike got it, seems to be a Singer 9W. An unusual model indeed!

Edit 2: muting this now that it’s solved ;)

Ok here’s the true test of whether the fedi can replace Reddit. Can anyone help me identify this antique singer sewing machine?

I’m pretty good at recognizing all the most common models, but a friend found this in his in-law’s house and it has me stumped.

Boosts appreciated

After reading @pluralistic's latest piece on planned obsolescence as technofeudalism, I stumbled across this Tumblr post about how a rusty old 100-year-old Singer sewing machine can be restored to FEARSOME, SUPERIOR working order compared to any newish machine, by swapping in standard-sized parts that attach with standard flat-head screws

Meanwhile the modern machine's plastic parts wear out quickly and very little is attached with standard screws. It also depends on software that's now glitching

Hand colored antique photograph.
This is from a set of six scenes from early 20th c. Japan.

About 30 years ago a landlord owed me money for my deposit. They couldn’t pay and asked if I’d accept these as a partial payment. I later showed them to an antique photo expert who authenticated them and estimated the value.

Bodie Mercantile

Bodie California is located in the Eastern Sierras and is listed as the official ghost town of California. It is a State Historical Park, earning that designation in 1962 when the state took over.
At it's peak there were over 7K residents. After a couple of fires and a depleted gold supply the town shut down. See the full image here: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/bodie-mercantile-bill-gallagher.html BodieMercantile

When I stepped into the second room of the old train Depot museum at Uptop, Colorado, this vintage pitcher and basin in the window caught my attention. I especially liked that I could angle the composition to get the Chapel of the Wayside as the outside background. 2021

Can anybody identify this mystery object? I'm wondering whether it has something to do with lacework?

This "autograph" book is over 100 years old and belonged to my grandmother who was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Most of the signatures are from high school classmates. It looks like she collected these from the age of 15 to about 22.

Reflection of the Past

I captured this on a visit to the hangers of WWII flying ace Duncan Miller. Duncan, the self proclaimed mayor of the Nut Tree Airport has several hangers out there.
In this image I have his Model A with a reflection of his C47 in the window. The reflection is converted to B & W to reflect on days gone by. Bodie Coffee Grinder
I found this beautiful old coffee grinder in the window of the Bodie Mercantile and General store while visiting this ghost town in the Eastern Sierra Navada.
This general store must have been one of the hubs of activity in this little town, I can only imagine the smells one would encounter while walking into the front doors of this store. See the full image here: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/bodie-coffee-grinder-bill-gallagher.html
