This sounds like a reason to call for our MPs and other government officials to remove themselves from toxic corporate social media spaces and create government-run, spaces, federated into the open social web so that Canadians can interact with their elected officials and those elected officials can be protected from harassment!
We are thrilled to announce the launch of IFTAS Connect, a new community of practice designed specifically for Fediverse moderators. IFTAS Connect aims to provide moderators, community managers and anyone engaged in creating a safer Internet with a wealth of tools, resources, and a supportive network to help them connect, collaborate, and navigate the complexities of federated content moderation. (Read the Press Release here.)
We’ve worked with a broad array of moderators and advisors to kick-start the available resources – and we hope many more will join and contribute their experience.
Après, ya pas trop d'info sur le logiciel libre...z'en pensez quoi ? Ya même un directeur, trésorier... 😳
"The promises of the fediverse can “solve a pretty huge distribution problem,” Patel said. Instead of spending time building a presence on other platforms for their benefit, a publisher can do that on their own sites — while giving readers the ability to see those posts on other federated platforms." https://digiday.com/media/why-publishers-are-preparing-to-federate-their-sites/
Bowie's album Diamond Dogs was my music of choice when I was gearing up to hit the city (Montreal) for a night of partying. I'll bet I could recite every word of it.
Let's all comment below with what our day has in store for us today or what we've already gotten done today.
For me, I only have 5 hours left of work for the day with a meeting from 2 - 3pm and then I'm done for an entire week as I'll be heading to Myrtle Beach, SC for vacation with the wife and the family!
Just some video games throughout the day and evening tonight!
Good morning #Fediverse peeps! Hope the day is going well for you so far.
Let’s gather for our #KoffeeWithKyle chat and see what we have planned for today or what we’ve accomplished so far.
I’ve got two support calls I have to go do so far today that will probably take a good chunk of my day. This evening will be pretty much be relaxing. I’ll probably get my initial discussion post out of the way for this week and then watch TV.
Are there search engines that work like this: I publish my own list of sites on some topic that it should index.
And then perhaps I compose bigger lists with trusted others?
I googled for federated search but that's about searching the fediverse or federating search engines. I guess I'm looking for a federated search index.
When we asked the moderator community what resources they’d like IFTAS to work on, one of the most requested items was a way to convene and collaborate with fellow moderators around the world.
We heard requests for things like sharing lessons learned, tips and tricks, technical help with moderation tools, standard terminology, and translation of non-native language content.
Our favourite quote from the Moderator Needs Assessment… “together we are stronger”.
We couldn’t agree more.

We’ve worked with a broad array of moderators and advisors to kick-start the available resources – and we hope many more will join and contribute their experience.

Discussion Forums – Engage with fellow moderators, share experiences, suggest new resources, and learn from one another.
Community Groups – Join groups focused on specific aspects of moderation, from software assistance to cultural issues.
Moderation Support – Ask for help with moderation software, content translation, and access IFTAS resources like the moderator sandbox and the FediCheck automated denylist service.
In addition we have aggregated news relevant to Fediverse community leaders, a multilingual feature under way to allow for contributed translations, and a wiki-like shared document feature being tested. Read more about the IFTAS Connect account features.

It might be obvious and old news, but on my rare logins to #Instagram I saw a new message of their privacy policy to be updated this month: Every content from every post will be used to train their AI.
If you are a visual artist of any kind and use the platform, #Meta will use your creation against you, literally. You either learn how to publish and own your data, or you’ll be stolen.
I very occasionally check my formerly-known-as-Twitter account (because every few weeks, someone sends me a DM still).
I'm disheartened to see that there's still so much content over there I miss here, because so many accounts are only on X still - including friends, but also orgs like Amnesty Germany, local initiatives, etc posting different content to different channels, et al. I assume it's the same on BSky.
Don't get me wrong, I love the #fediverse, but I hate missing out.
Ich nutze viel lieber #RSS-Reader für News, Blogs & Co. Online-Abonnente, als dies über @Flipboard zu konsumieren aber auf der anderen Seite macht dies das #Fediverse um so populärer und anerkannter in der Masse.
»"The Future is Federated" – Flipboard beginnt kompletten Einstieg ins Fediverse:
Bei #Flipboard ist man überzeugt, dass die Ära des Fediverse angebrochen ist und will komplett dabei sein. Bis #April soll die #App komplett angebunden sein.«
