Today, I increased the maximum message size on my server from 1,500 characters to 12,000 characters. I originally went to 1,500 characters because I found 500 characters to be frustrating.
I think a small message size on Twitter is appropriate given the lack of effective moderation. It limits damage by trolls and idiots.
But, on Mastodon, moderation is effective and so I think people can be trusted with large posts.
Also, I've seen some people really struggle with the 500-character limit, chaining messages together to get around it. In one case, I saw 23 chained messages. And I painfully read them all. This must be frustrating for both the readers and the writers.
Because it’s impossible to filter #Mastodon instances lists by basic community rules. You’d have to go to each instance & parse through their #CodeOfConduct
Filtering by interests doesn’t help here
And defaulting folks to mastodon[.]social with its at-best inadequate #moderation only invites more trouble
This is something of a travesty considering the benefits touted re the #fediverse
Ciao @owncast , I noticed that some streams are boosted by @owncast , is there something I have to do to include @kappaesse as part of those channels?
Is it a language issue, since we''re the first Italian channel on #owncast ?

Wie kommst du zu dieser verallgemeinernden Annahme? Sind es deine eigenen Erfahrungen oder gibt es dazu fundierte Belege? Hier wurde schon ausreichend viel ins Fediverse hinein interpretiert, was zu keiner Zeit der Intension entsprach.

I created an account on botsin.space to showcase a framework I made, also called JokeBot, for posting #jokes on the fediverse; I originally posted jokes on my current account, but it was posting a bit too "loudly." Hence, that's why @JokeBot is here.
@JokeBot is currently fully operational; I already boosted its first post, and I will continue to boost its posts for my existing followers to see them.

Thanks, I took a look at that a few minutes back when exploring the project's page.
Seems cool and I might experiment with it a bit, but to be honest I don't have that much of free time and I want to give learning Flutter a priority.
You're welcome, @peterkal. I am actually trying to get the framework localized to multiple languages, but I haven't had much luck getting contributions.

sure you can search for user names, but doesn't help with impersonation on defederated servers right?
any way to search the whole thing or have all the projects aiming to do that stopped because of backlash @ the idea of a fediverse-wide search function?
