I took a picture of this willow oak 30 minutes ago. It sits at the edge of the old Bi-Lo supermarket parking lot, next to Circle K. I've admired it for months, and tonight decided to honor it. It may not be there long.
I went to a Renaissance Faire once in a Starfleet Uniform. Giant of a man in a pirate costume leans down to me, breaks his accent and says, "Commander, you're blowing our cover."

If you missed it, Logan Lucky is a fantasticly off-piste comedy/heist movie with Adam Driver, Daniel Craig and Channing Tatum. Watched it on a whim, absolutely loved it. Daniel Craig kills me, the guy has real comedy chops and he doesn't get to use em often enough. Driver too for that matter.
The reason I think for all that is that he's a director's dream actor. He takes direction better than anyone, by all accounts. So if you have a stellar action director, like John Woo or Michael Bay, he's gonna give you stellar action. If you try to make an action movie with him with a not so stellar director, it won't be good.
Look back at all his films, the pattern is real clear about it. Great director, great execution. Bad director .. you get meme Cage.

In every instance, the only people who had a hard time adjusting to my transition were people who were already negative contributors to my life. The people who care about me the most not only were the fastest to gender me correctly and call me by the correct name, but they were actively happy and excited for me and told me how much more obviously happy and confident I am now. People who cling to your pre-transition self, in my experience, aren’t interested in your happiness
Super tempted to make my own minecraft. Write in the functionality of all my favorite mods from the start, make everything super detailed, exactly the way I want it. I'd probably never finish, but it could be fun. XD

@gruber I’m really not. The Mac is less than 20% of the desktop market after nearly 40 years, and Vision Pro won’t even do that well. VP isn’t competing against Oculus and the other failed headsets, it’s competing against Macs, iPhones, and iPads. Those devices are versatile, enabling content creation and consumption. Why would someone buy a VP instead of those products? If I need to have a Bluetooth keyboard for fast data input or command shortcuts, VP has just lost most of its interface strengths. Will people dictate their data? Use Siri for input? Those technologies already exist, but users favor keyboards instead. Increased UI efficiency was claimed for touch, but most people didn’t replace their Macs and PCs with iPads. A touch interface is less efficient than a desktop GUI, and VP’s OS is even less so, despite the speed with which one can select an object by looking at it. Port Photoshop or Office, with menus, to VP and see if people adopt them over the Windows and Mac versions.
It’s often the case that critics of anarchism will demand to know how we might obtain public goods without the state, because their entire frame of reference for public goods is in the context of state monopolies.
And I might reply that all sorts of public goods predate the state by thousands of years or more. Neolithic peoples were building trackway roads and monumental architecture and all kinds of neat things.
And critics of anarchism will often gleefully seize upon this as if it presents some clever gotcha. They think this means that the best we can hope to achieve without the state is a Neolithic-level of technology and cooperation.
And I find that response to be…so immensely sad. They see a dead-end; I see incredible achievements with only the barest of technologies and available knowledge, and can only wonder at the marvels we’d be able to achieve together now.
