Yahoo is buying Artifact, the AI news app, for an unknown sum. Co-founders Mike Krieger and Kevin Systrom will be "special advisors" to Yahoo but won't be joining the company. Here's more from @verge's @imdavidpierce
Reports of the death of Artifact, the AI-powered news app, may have been exaggerated. While the company announced in January that it was to close the following month, it's still functioning. “It takes a lot less to run it than we had imagined,” co-founder Kevin Systrom confirmed to TechCrunch, adding that it’s just himself and co-founder Mike Krieger running Artifact right now. He told TechCrunch it will still likely go away — but not just yet, and that he and Krieger are "exploring all possible routes for it going forward." Here's more from @Sarahp
@dimillian Haha. 😛 Same boat with #Artifact. I’ve recently been testing “#Matter: Read, Listen, Learn” and “#Readwise Reader”. For me Readwise is an instant win with the read later feature and listening features. The build in RSS works like a charm also.
It lasted longer than Burbn… (obscure Web 2.0 joke). But seriously, I did try Artifact but didn’t find it compelling. The founders got the timing just right with Instagram — right at the start of the smartphone app revolution. But I feel like their luck and timing was out this time…it’s now the start of the fediverse revolution, which will bring blogs and decentralized social media to the fore, not centralized apps like Artifact. https://medium.com/artifact-news/shutting-down-artifact-1e70de46d419
@ricmac@tchambers I had a very similar thought when I learned the news: would have #Artifact survived if they built it on the open social web from day 1?
We'll never know, but I think it’s an interesting question.
Phone camera HDR (multiframe compositing for better exposure & dynamic range) has advanced tremendously, but I still get artifacts like this headless jogger. (iPhone 14 Pro.) #Photography#iphone14Pro#HDR#artifact
Here is a diagram of the 5-piece mold components. A base mold line is on the heel. We call this a cup bottom mold. They started being used as early as 1854. The valve mark is formed when the unfinished bottle is pushed out of the mold on it's way to the top finish mold. #artifact#archaeology

I am optimistic for a timely change of regime in Russia, preferably by September 13th, 2023. This anticipation is fueled by the desire to utilize and redeem my Target Store Circle Earnings certificate before its expiration date. Despite its modest value of $0.15, it remarkably converts to a substantial sum of 1,513.50 Russian Rubles. 🤩
The White House has announced they are putting President Biden’s name on infrastructure project signs after Republicans started taking credit for projects they voted against.
