As of today, this instance blocks known domains associated with Meta's #project92, in accordance with the anti-Meta Fedi Pact (https://fedipact.online/)
In effect, this instance does not federate with the domains threads.net or threads.instagram.com. Further associated domains will be blocked, if discovered.
We are not personally against the users of Project 92, we are against Meta. We will not be giving them a chance. Their work is a threat to the Fediverse, as it has been a threat to other social spaces and open communities for years prior. They are not welcome in our homes.
I need more folks to know who are talking about #Meta or #Facebook joining the Fediverse that the company has coordinated with the federal government in the US to remove people from disability benefits.
No, I'm not joking. Many folks on disability know better than to EVER post pictures on that platform as they've been used against them. Or to ever talk about having a slightly better day for their ailments than usual. Having them spy on the #fediverse is NOT okay and will actively make this platform less safe for many disabled people. That #FediPact should be seriously considered.

It seems that @Gargron signed Meta's NDA for #Project92. If this is true, then if I were an instance moderator I would defederate mastodon.social and switch to some fork of #Mastodon if I didn't already use one. No quarter should be given to #Meta and other such entities. Let's not repeat the mistakes of #XMPP, the #Fediverse must not be embraced-extended-extinguished as well. I'm watching for the reaction of my current instance's admins to #FediPact and #FediBlockMeta.

Yes, some of us indeed got contacted by Meta/Insta because they are working on a new social platform (this was in the news) and they are looking into joining the Fediverse (Mark Zuckerberg also told this in the recent podcast)

This contact was about a "heads-up" for a potential big platform to join the network and not for a "take over".
Traditional social media, and Meta in particular, has been highly problematic when it comes to Jews, including allowing antisemitic hate speech, harassment and more.
If a Meta instance were to federate with Babka Social, it would put our people at risk, not only from antisemitic harassment, but also from data collection and other threats to our vulnerable community.

There is over a decade of precedent that Facebook will not have users' best interests as their guiding principle but rather profit margins, if it joins the Fediverse.
We at tech.lgbt have long held the belief that corporation owned instances are a threat to the core of the Fediverse: freedom for users to be themselves and to be a part of their communities. The 2010s saw the loss of online freedom when the majority of the Web was consolidated into a few destinations, and Facebook entering here could lead us back to centralization. Furthermore, NDAs for server admins will constrain our sovereignty online by binding us legally from disrupting their business.
We are not products. We are people, and we do not welcome Facebook in this space.
If your instance admin is speaking favorably about #facebook joining the #fediverse, get out now before they start feeding your data to the company partly responsible for overturning several elections (by violating data privacy laws with impunity). The company that demonstrates a clear conservative bias with every act.

I have mixed feelings about Meta joining the Fediverse but we should all be prepared to wage a reddit style campaign against them should they get out of line.
